Honestly from what little I see, it seems fun! It's also neat to see Aperture Science when it was actually functional. Looking it up, seems the playtesters just didn't like the lack of portals...? Fair enough, but this still could have been a good spin-off though!

It definitely would have been interesting to see Valve's take on it as a spin-off though. One of my favourite things about Portal 2 is how well they integrated the various extra puzzle elements with the base of the portal gun, and there could be a lot of creative room to mix them with the camera too.
Going strictly by this footage, I can sort of understand why people would be turned off if they'd played the first game. It feels a bit like "what if the same game but we replace the whole core of the game with something that isn't obviously as dynamic and interesting".
I'm sure I will! It's been on my list for years now, it was one of the first bundles I bought on Fanatical after getting my Steam Deck. I was planning to finally play it this month (I need to free...

I was planning to finally play it this month (I need to free up space on my Steam Deck, it's only 64GB and even with the micro SD card, I think all the shaders have filled up the space), but this just pushed it to the front of the line~
Eh, I don't think we have enough info to make that claim. The leaked game is fairly short since it's basically a demo. At bare minimum, it would provide a lot of world-building information though...

This clip makes me realize they could've had a whole series of Aperture Science games focusing on various unique mechanics. It's a good setting for exploring heavily mechanic-driven puzzle games like this.
Play testers famously did not like the camera mechanics and Valve gave it the axe. They took some inspiration from F-Stop and put it into Portal 2 but I can't help but wonder what we may have...

I was also reminded of Superliminal with the object-placement focus.
Same. This actually pushed it up to the top of my list for the backlog burner!
Ooh, nice! I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope that you do too!

It just doesn't feel like it adds enough to the franchise to deserve a release. It would make more sense as a DLC or fan-made mod.

Apparently the leak has much more than this?
Seems like that's a the case! Sorry, I was excited and posted the first article I saw
