It's as he said. This timeline goes from the Age of Twilight to the Age of Shadow, and naturally darkness should follow shadow. What is Calamity Ganon? Pure darkness.
Technically, Hyrule hasn't been flooded in this timeline, which doesn't make this an Adult Timeline game despite the presence of the Korok and Rito species. This is also not New Hyrule from Spirit Tracks, because the various landmarks from Hyrule still exist in this land. Instead, the Rito and Koroks could have naturally evolved over a lengthier time. Sea Zoras could have evolved to Rito and River Zoras could have evolved into a more advanced species, which is why the Zoras you see are red instead of blue.
It can't be the Downfall TImeline either, because Hyrule never technologically advances in that timeline,. Hyrule did however go through significant technological advancements within the Child Timeline, as shown in Twilight Princess. We also do not see Gorons or Sea Zoras in the Downfall Timeline, aside from in Holodrum and Labyrnna.
Calamity Ganon had been sealed away for 10,000 years by the intro of BotW. This 10,000 year period cannot be the Era of Decline where Zelda I and II is set, because Ganon is indeed brought back in that time. Instead, it would make sense for it to be set a very long time after Four Swords Adventures.
So, Hyrule Warriors reintergrates the timeline so that Breath of the Wild can happen in all three forks? I don't understand the metatime aspects, but I think my brother owes me $5 if this becomes...
