Video game Halloween update/event megathread
Lots of games have special events or updates that change the game in some way for Halloween. Some of them are pretty impressive, so I wanted to make a thread where people could point out some of the best ones.
Have you seen any interesting updates/events in the games you're playing/watching?
Please make a separate top-level comment for each game/update so we can easily separate discussion about a particular game.
This is a really obscure thing, but on the PSP, there was an excellent game known as LocoRoco, which is hard to explain but it's a casual game where you need to rotate the game level in order to guide these little blobs to the end of the level, and they have the ability to merge or split up at will. This game had 3 demos, one of which is Halloween themed (and another Christmas!) and they've been part of my holiday ritual every year for about 10 years now. They're completely demo exclusive and can't be found in the regular game as far as I know!
Edit: Oh shit, I'm sorry, I didn't read properly and realize this was for events or updates specifically, I don't know if a sideloaded demo counts. I'll delete if off topic, if you'd like.
Deep Rock Galactic has added some Halloween flair around. The blog post is from last year but it's the same event as this year. I believe there's also a Halloween specific mining challenge as well, involving an invisible giant exploder dude who cannot be killed and chases you throughout the dive.
Insurgency Sandstorm has added Task Force 666, a night map and a variation of its Frenzy mode rules featuring life leech on kills. It's the first night map in the game, and in this engine, and it looks incredible.
I wanted to specifically point out the Halloween update for Dicey Dungeons.
It's really impressive. I've only played through one of the three new episodes so far, but (as it shows in the video) there's a ton of new art with almost all of the enemies being in a Halloween costume, new environments and backgrounds, new music, and more.
It seems like Terry (the dev) is using it as kind of a test run for the game's upcoming modding tools, and the Halloween event will continue to be available in the future through the mod system.
Tower Unite is having a Halloween event. It's a minigame hub sorta thing. Me and my buddies play and just chat the entire time. Good way to just hang with friends online.
