Pokémon Sword & Shield sound settings have to be unlocked by a key item obtainable from an optional NPC

@thatdude433:
also something that was totally baffling to me was that the sound control settings were locked behind a key item. This key item is obtained from a random totally optional NPC. So if you want sound control, find this guy in Motostoke. #SWSHLeak

      I didn't realize that subtitles were also locked, that makes all of this even more egregious. What were they thinking?!

    Maybe I'm disqualifying myself from complaining about the complaining by not really being into Pokemon, but the earbud thing is the first thing that seems worthy of exploring how that came to be, mostly because locking advanced settings behind an in game item is just such a bizarre option. Everything else people are getting weird about is a mismanagement of expectations, this is just silly.

    I can understand this being a minor annoyance, but I'm sure the Nintendo Switch has a hardware volume slider.

        I'm not sure it's too important. Do Pokemon games actually have voice acting?

          No... Unless this will be the first to have it seeing as subtitles are also locked...
