New podcast name

My friends and I are starting to work on a gaming focused podcast. It will cover news and provide our commentary and stories for anything related to games. It will be primarily about video games, but we will also cover board games and a little D&D. We've narrowed down the list of names we like and would like to get a little feedback. What do you think of these podcast names? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

  • DOT - Dialogue Over Time
  • Our Alts Have Day Jobs
  • Best in Slot
  • Theory Crafting
  • Data Mined

I like Our Alts Have Day Jobs. It’s catchy, funny and unique enough that when someone searches for it, they won’t get a bunch of unrelated results. The others might get some junk results.

My first thought now on seeing the world "alt" is alt-right. Not sure if others would think the same thing, but thought I'd mention it.

"Our Alts Have Day Jobs" I find overly wordy. It also doesn't produce a nice acronym. OAHDJ? Maybe better as a subtitle or slogan.

Best In Slot is a term I recently learned, but is apparently popular with MMO games. Seems fitting enough. With a little SEO you could probably rank for that.

Theory Crafting and Data Mined are maybe a little too generic. Unless that's the chief focus of the show, I'd probably skip those.

Seconding Dialogue Over Time. Short, witty, unique, Googlable. Top-tier name.

Of those, I prefer "Our Alts Have Day Jobs", as it seems most clever. @Wes makes some good points in his/her comment, so maybe consider rewording it slightly while keeping the main idea of that title.

You should think about the name out of context. Do they explicitly call out the focus or have a strong enough, specific reference where the first thing in people's mind will be the focus? Some examples: "TWiT - This Week In Tech" obviously about current tech news. "The 1Up Show" - Not many usages of "1UP" in popular culture other than videogames. "StarTalk" could be celebrities or space, but the title is almost always accompanied and disambiguated by "with Neil deGrasse Tyson". Without context, here's what I think of for the above list:

    • Dialogue Over Time - Sounds like history, possibly how societal views on various topics have shifted through the ages. Could possibly be discussing topics personally and revisiting them periodically.
    • Our Alts Have Day Jobs - I think "alts" as a noun, without any prefix or suffix, is most commonly in reference to digital accounts, so ok there. Could be games or social media, though referencing jobs makes a stronger case for recreation, meaning games. As a whole phrase, it makes me think more specifically of game stuff through the lens of someone with more going on in life; how a game works with other commitments (e.g. fall guys is super easy to pick up and put down as needed), is it good for a family or group, is there a lively community maybe with meetups, do any skills/philosophies/themes carry over into other life situations, etc.
    • Best in Slot - Something related to gambling. Possibly the competitive scene.
    • Theory Crafting - First impression would maybe be exploring fan theories for shows/books, but a search for "theorycraft" is pretty clearly game mechanics analysis. I would only use this if you plan for the show to be more objectively analytical rather than the friends-talk-about-games that your pitch sounds like. Also going to be hard to get high in the search results with the generic term.
    • Data Mined - Statistical analysis, something similar to FiveThirtyEight. Nothing about it yells "games", and if you do think of games, I would expect it to be mostly rumors and speculation based on data mined game assets, vague tweets, etc.

I like Our Alts Have Day Jobs the most, however I do agree that you'll have issues finding a decent acronym
