It's a shame that the VR is PSVR exclusive, considering PSVR is lacking in many respects, most notably high quality tracked motion controllers (Hitman 3 uses the dualshock controller instead, which is tracked), and hardware capability (the base PS4 is pretty underpowered now). The headset itself is also lower quality than many PCVR headsets.

It's really disappointing because Hitman in VR is extremely cool, but it's severely limited in both hardware and participation by the exclusivity.

EDIT: Also, the PSVR exclusivity seems sort of petty, considering the fact that it doesn't seem like Sony is all that invested in PSVR as a platform anyway. If Hitman 3 was a PSVR2 launch title, something like this would make more sense.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, PSVR2 might actually have a chance at dethroning Occulus for best consumer VR experience if they can make it cheap enough.

I doubt PSVR2 would dethrone oculus, simply because you have to pay for a console, so in the end it would always be more expensive. And if we're talking about product quality, I think the index would trump both in that regard.

In the case of Xbox, I think it makes sense that Microsoft not support WMR. WMR is, after all, an open ecosystem; not what you want when you are building video games on fixed platforms. In other words, Microsoft probably just doesn't want to have people dealing with subpar experiences when tied to their Xbox brand. Well, that, and VR probably won't be too great when they are also supporting Series S.

The reason why I think PSVR2 has the potential it does is because it has better access to markets that Occulus doesn't really reach. I think that most gamers probably don't think of the Quest as a 'serious video game system' because it's based on cell phone tech and is owned by Facebook (which is associated with casual games like farmville et. al.). And since the PS5 is something that gamers "already own" (in other words, they might think of the expense as a new thing instead of a bundle deal), it doesn't necessarily need to be super cheap to be successful.

I wish them all the success in the world, they really deserve it. Hitman is probably the scrappiest series I can think of. It's been around since 2000 and despite some points of great success, it feels like it's been fighting for table scraps for most of it.

Of course, it seems the EGS exclusivity is causing some problems for content carry-over so I'll wait until it's available on Steam so that the last two game's content will carry over easily. But I cannot wait, the last two games have been stellar. I can't believe Square Enix dropped this franchise, that was pretty boneheaded of them.

The carry over of your saves is such a mess I can’t actually play it. Only about 20% of my progress and unlocks worked and I have no access to Hitman 2015 as it asks me to repurchase the GOTY version to get access (which I own).

Can’t play until they fix this because fixing it means any Hitman 3 progress gets erased. I’m displeased with this launch to say the least. For how obnoxious it was that these games are “always online” you’d hope a process like this would be easy and smooth since they have all the data on their end.

So hard to have a modern game launch in a pleasing state these days, it’s kinda sad. I even paid extra for the Deluxe version...
