That data is the most important thing Valve has, it is obvious that they will try to protect it. Or at least they could only release the 18+ anime videogames data to only annoy Apple.

Not a lawyer but I don't think it's up to Valve? This is a power of a court, to compel a company to release evidence if it's relevant to a court case. (Not necessarily make it public. It could be sealed evidence just used for the court case.)

The question is whether the court decides it's needed. I'm also wondering if Valve can appeal if they think the court ruled incorrectly?

If there's no appeal or it fails, in the end, I suppose Valve could refuse. Sometimes people do that, but it tends to result in increasing fines until they obey.

Regardless, it would seem crazy to me if the courts completely caved to Apple. Sounds like Valve doesn't even have the data Apple wants, and it would be extremely costly for Valve to put it all together. That would seem pretty unreasonable for a party that's completely uninvolved.

Epic may have started all of this but just fuck off Apple.
