Yeah I consider myself to be a big fan of the series and I think BotW is my favorite entry, just behind Windwaker. It's such an incredibly well designed game in so many ways that it always kinda surprises me when I hear about people disliking it. I remember there being a lot of people upset about the music in particular but when I finally got to play it (I didn't have a Wii U or a Switch when the game first released) I was blown away by the soundtrack, I think it's one of the most interesting game soundtracks in recent years. I'm actually replaying it now with my kids now that they're old enough to be able to play it, and we're all having a blast. There's so much to do and explore, and so many really good puzzles that use the physics systems in really cool ways.

So what did you all think?
Microsoft's presentation was great if you have Game Pass and something caught your eye. (I got Game Pass for Psychonauts 2, so I'm pretty happy.)
Nintendo's was the second coming of 2001-2003 with an Advance Wars and a Monkey Ball remaster, and a Metroid Fusion follow up that is an extremely deep cut.
Sony didn't do much for E3. Hopefully their own event is soon.
It felt like Covid raptured pretty much everything that was supposed to release this year, and we were left with a whole bunch of appetizers and party favors, and a lot of it was great. Personally, I don't have the taste I used to for mega 400+ hour games, and a lot of cool little things that I can be interested in for a bit and then drop make me happy.
It really feels like Microsoft is the only one that showed up this year, and they came through huge. Even with Nintendo's couple of big announcements, Microsoft ran away with it. I'm impressed,...

I'm impressed, I've been kind of down on their output for a while but they're really pushing a lot of games this year, especially with how many are appearing on GamePass immediately. There's a part of me that's wondering if this just means we'll see a price increase for GamePass coming within the next year but with all this, I don't think I would actually mind.
On the flipside, a large reason why MS looks so impressive this time is because so many others were so disappointing. Sony being a no-show is a big disappointment, really. I don't even know why Square Enix showed up. Koch seems to have winged together an E3 presentation with absolutely zero research into what E3 is. Ubisoft were pretty much the same as usual: unremarkable.
One thing I'm really glad we did get was some Elden Ring and a relatively soon release date. I'm excited for that one, and I really hope we'll get some GRRM prose content out of it. I'm a big fan of his writing, and I'd be excited to see what he's come up with for From to build upon.
i don't own a switch, but i'm happy for zelda fans (being one myself)
i am VERY excited for slime rancher 2, though
I am a Zelda fan and liked BotW quite a bit, so now you have a data point to the other side.
