It's been a rocky couple weeks. Ended up with a URI for a week and then was traveling for several more days. Back on track this week, feeling much more recovered. I'm also experimenting with doing my bench on off-days so that on primary days I can focused on the squat or deadlift for the day plus accessories. So far I really like it.

    • I'm finding that bench takes about 30-40 minutes, I don't rest a lot between sets it just takes time to warm up to working weight.
    • Lower body movement takes 30-45 minutes as well, then accessories another 15-20 minutes.
    • Doing it all on the same day means I'm at the gym 1.5-2 hours which is a real bummer since it eats up my evening. This split means I can bench at home, then my time in the gym plus commute is much shorter. It'll take a couple week to figure out how to fatigue accumulates but so far I really like it.

I feel like time is so limited but my husband wanted to wake up earlier to do yoga, so I decided to join him.

Honestly it's been really refreshing, I have also been feeling it so I'm not sure if that means I'm doing some poses wrong or finally doing them right. Tightness is in the shoulders, back. I have always known I'm weak in these areas but to feel it during yoga poses makes me wonder how weak I might be.

Here's to seeing how much of a change I feel in 30 days!

I want to get back to also incorporating some other exercises in the evening but am going a bit slower so I don't overdo it. I've been known to overdo it in the past.

I've taken to getting back into fitness a little bit now I've got downtime. Nothing major, just some bicep curls, overhead lifts, rows, crunches, squats and a few other bits and bobs. 4 sets of 10 and I feel wonderfully stronger already, my shirts also have that nice tightness around my biceps again.

It's amazing how giving yourself the mental space to better yourself, actually works wonders.

I ended my one month trial membership at the rock climbing gym and committee to a year. I grabbed a harness and shoes last night after deciding that i had gone about 15 times during the trial and have genuinely seen enough improvement/continued interest that its well worth the investment. I've completed tall walls at difficulties that i couldnt even begin before and ive even finished a couple of the easier bouldering challenges.

Everyone at the gym makes it look so easy, definitely wish i didnt have to lug 230lbs up a wall, i feel like itd be wayyyy easier, especially on the sloped walls/hanging grips.

I found out this week that I can do an unassisted chin up! Almost certainly for the first time in my entire life. And I can get the bar to about eye level using a pull-up grip. About a month or two ago I added in some assisted pull-ups and lat pull-downs to my gym routines, but I'm still at like 130lbs of assist on the pull-ups. I decided to give it a shot without assistance to see if I could do a single rep, and turns out yes! In fact, I can do two.

I've been getting more and more into the idea of calisthenics lately. Next major goal is handstand :)

I'm about a month into my bulk now and I'm really surprised at how phat some parts of me are getting. My chest is starting to look fuller, and I've gone from skinny legs and flat ass to having some actual junk in the trunk.

The bulk has been a little dirty so far but with my lifts shooting up and my body changing I'm happy with how it's going.

Running in the winter is tough. I can get out there In the dark and below freezing temps, but no matter how i seem to dress I’m cold at the start and overheated at the end of the run. But it still feels good somehow. Or maybe it’s the feeling of accomplishment that feels good.

Finally getting back into the regular gym too, just trying to make it a habit to go twice a week. At least the first few workouts and the extreme soreness from those are past. I just wish i felt like the gym was fun, it’s so boring.
