Anyone here using a Juul?

Seems like a slightly less douchey cigarette alternative. Anyone have any success changing their habits? Or is this just a newer dumber douche flute with silly flavors?

I can’t speak to the Juul specifically, but in my experience the smaller, compact Vapes just don’t have enough power to make the experience enjoyable or satisfying for me as a “former” cig smoker (haven’t had one in 5 days now, wish me luck) trying to quit for good. I crave the harsh throat and lung hit as much as I crave the nicotine, without both of which I just go back to smoking cigarettes. I have tried about 5 different slightly weaker, smaller and ‘cute’ style Vapes like the Juul over the last 3-4 years and none of them provided that for me so I wound up just going back to cigs.

However, I decided to get serious and fully commit to quitting so I bought myself a Smok Alien and it’s a damn beast. It’s actually even a bit too powerful, in fact, so I have actually had to turn it down to about half wattage (which you can do on the fly through the electronic interface) and turn the coil profile to soft (instead of normal/harsh) which gradually ramps the power up as you inhale rather than blast you with full power immediately. It’s not 100% as satisfying as a real cigarette, but it’s close enough.

Weirdly enough, i find cigarettes less satisfying than my vape now that i got used to it. Give it a few days. Also, give direct lung vaping a try. I couldn't quit when i tried mouth to lung devices, but DL has been a revelation.

I used to smoke a 50g tobacco bag every 2 days for 12 years, and decided it was enough. Bought myself a Pico and a Serpent Mini because i am a cheap bastard and don't want to buy a new coil every few days, and i couldn't be happier. Tried lighting a couple of cigarettes and realized how god awful they taste and how pointless it was when i can taste lemons instead of an ashtray.

Almost 3 months smoke free now!

Juul (etc) work much better with nicotine salts around 50mg. It sounds like a lot, but it's compensating for the low output. The salts can provide a better throat hit too.

I have used Smok, Crown, and Vaporesso products in the past, and the only thing I have done is piss of my partner with spilled terrible smelling e-juice. The coils always seem to leak and the flavors give me a headache. The Juul, while terribly named, is the first thing since a cigarette that has given me a similarly hard hit of nicotine.

Where have you been buying your e-juice? I ordered a bunch of Medical grade Glycol/Glycerin/Nicotine and Flavor agents and make my own now and have even had people compliment the smell on numerous occasions (I never vape around people without asking first, same as with cigs).

I do agree the occasional leakage is annoying though but to avoid that I simply don't overfill it and replace my coils every few weeks. It's only $15 for a 4 pack of coils so it's still way way way way way cheaper than cigs, esp in Canada where they are $20/pack now.

I visited Beyond Vape a bunch since they were nearby my office. Never found a flavor that worked for me. My most recent purchase, which was a few months ago now, was from Nude Nicotine, recommended by a friend. Certainly better quality, and was delivered with a full technical breakdown of the makeup of their product. However, their customer service is terrible and they shipped me an incomplete order, which arrived weeks later than anticipated. That said, the plain 6mg nicotine tasted ok on its own.

Comparatively, Juul is $12 for a pack of 4 pods, and each pod supposedly has a full cigs worth of nicotine in it. Looks a lot less bizarre than sucking on the Fallout 4 Laser Pistol I was using before. No judgement tho!

You can also make your own juice, which isn't difficult, and refill the Juul pods several times. here's a guide a friend and I wrote up. Instead of the normal nic, get nicotine salts from Nude...

For you, you'll most likely want the 'Hit' one.

I think it's terrible how popular it is among teenagers, I can't imagine why on Earth someone would want to get themselves addicted to nicotine for a few puffs of smoke, but especially not early on in our lives. Even more despicable the company behind it seems to have no problem encouraging this trend :/

I kind of see it as while I'd rather teens not inhale anything addictive, I'd rather them inhale something less harmful than cigarette smoke. As long as there are addictive things around, they're going to be used/misused/abused by teens, I'm a little bit glad that it seems to be shifting towards vapes instead of cigarettes.

Having said that, I do agree about the conduct of Juul the company. Just because we know teens are going to be using them doesn't mean we should let the company encourage it. And if there are ways to make it less popular with teens, I'm all for it.

This is also the mindset a lot of teenagers use to justify it to themselves :)

Well that certainly makes sense. Teens will always justify whatever they're doing with "At least I'm not X." Like when the cool thing was cigarettes, it was "At least I'm not drinking/shooting...

Unfortunately, until we can fundamentally change teenage urges, we're never gonna keep them from doing things that are bad for them.
