Had a Hevy subscription because I liked the minimal distraction through the use of my Apple Watch.

But all in all I was only using my Apple Watch for this specific case as I dislike using it in daily life.

Had to have the Hevy subscription as I had a boatload of routines from the Jeff Nippard programs.

Decided to ditch it all and switch to printed excel sheets in a clipboard. Not sure if I like it but it ticks all the boxes.
Can see everything in a quick glance and there’s no distractions.

LOL, that is the exact same reason for my Hevy Pro subscription too! <3 Jeff Nippard. It's thank to his recomp guide that I've managed to lose 40lbs over the last 9 months while simultaneously packing on a bunch of muscle.

The only difference is that I actually started out using Google Sheets at first and hated it though, so I plan on sticking with Hevy even though my Gym Monster 2 "smart gym" has built in routine/rep/set tracking as well. The thing I like most about Hevy is how good it is at keeping me motivated thanks to all the graphs showing my improvements in strength and stamina over time. I simply prefer its heavily visualized, gamified, chasing PRs approach, I guess.

The only thing I hate about it is how small their exercise library currently is which means most of my routines are chocked full of manually created ones, and as a result of that I can never go back to just using the free version without losing access to everything. And I also feel like, because of their pricing model, they have very little incentive to actually improve their exercise library since the amount of custom exercises you can create is extremely limited for free accounts. And if their library was comprehensive then nobody would have any reason to pay for the Pro sub. :/ Ah well, at least it's relatively cheap ($25/yr). A lot of the other similar apps, e.g. RP Hypertrophy cost that much per month.

Only thing I used it for was checking what my PR was from a couple months back.
But yes really appreciated the low price point of hevy and the fully functional feature set (super sets, apple watch integration, etc.) if I'm going to use an app again the future I'll be surely coming back to Hevy.

My tildes fitness pals!! It has been a hot hot minute since I posted here. The last time I was here I mentioned I had jumpers knees. That has gotten better because I've been icing and bracing and working out less intensively. My knees still hurt a little after skating and stuff but nowhere near what it was before lmao. So I am working on building back up some.

So in the interim, I rolled my ankle hard and was pretty much out of commission all September. Did some gym stuff with a friend but could not skate AT ALL. I tried to test out for flight school for derby and failed but didn't fail hard so I'm thinking I'll go up to the next level next time I try.

I have also joined an ice hockey league!! Last night was my third game ever and ugh it's soooo much fucking fun. I love getting to play with all these ladies, even if the games are late as fuck lol! My games for the rest of the season start at 10:30pm.

I felt a lot more steady on my skates last night and overall I need to work on my skating endurance for both derby and hockey. I got myself a pair of inline skates so I can practice more without explicit ice time and I love them. They're missions and apparently that was the brand. The boot is great because it's wide enough for my fat fucking feet. Fuck bauer and their tiny ass roller skates! I could barely put that bitch on who is this made for!?

All of this to say that I am overall just getting more active in a so very very fun way and that's what's important to me. I'm less concerned about specifically working out, because for an hour to an hour and a half twice a week I'm doing hockey and roller derby practice and they are workouts!! Sweatin like a piglet for both and getting that heart rate up.

I'm tired af but I made sure to stretched and really wound down when I got home. But for my fitness journey I am having SO much fucking fun.

I've been skipping out on the gym lately because I got a theme park season pass. Going to a theme park obviously doesn't work out the same muscles as the gym, but it's a heck of a lot more engaging and fun than your average leg day! I have an allergy to waiting in long lines so I'm not standing around all day. Sunday I passed my average number of steps five times over. My Apple Watch logged 2.3x my calorie expenditure goal, while it also logged roughly the same amount of exercise time I get at the gym just with the automatic logging.

The downside, though, is that the parks generally have zero or near-zero healthy food options, so any calorie expenditures pretty much get cancelled out. I'm going to have to see if I can sneak in some food of my own or something. There's still a health benefit, but it's not really contributing to my weight loss goal.

I should probably mention I have arthritis in my ankles, so this was probably a bad idea, but thankfully a good ankle compression sleeve prevented me from being in much pain at all. Sadly I seem to have lost it so I will probably have to go buy another soon. I'll be heading out to the same park this coming Sunday with a friend in tow.
