Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
I just found a store with Ring Fit Adventure in stock and ordered it! I heard it's an actual, no-bullshit workout with "gamification" (as horrible as that word is) done right.
I'm also cancelling my gym membership. Truth is, I hardly ever went anymore, even before corona and now it's just ridiculous. The process, even online, reminds me of that Friends episode. The amount of fine print and hoops they let you jump through to cancel that goddamn subscription makes me swear to never return.
Otherwise, we're trying to do a 30 minute workout two or three times a week, just some stuff my girlfriend learned from a fitness program they get to attend for free at work. It's mostly various moves (situps and shit) done to Moby's "Flower", I now hate that song with a passion.
I've downloaded one of these fancy 30 day challenge apps and starting exercising in the morning. It honestly feels great, you've got much more energy for the rest of the day and you feel more positive and upbeat while doing other tasks. The schedule in the app consists of alternating exercises focused on the arms, stomach and shoulders/chest. The only change I've noticed so far is my bizeps showing when I flex.
I've personally been doing YouTube yoga every other day give or take (Cat Meffan for those interested). I need to get a yoga mat, there's a lot of slippage on carpet lol. But otherwise my SO and I have been taking the occasional walk and I've been trying to watch what I eat. In some ways it's easier and in others it harder while working from home but I think I'm doing pretty alright so far!
I finally hit a plate on my squat!!
I know that to most people that's really unimpressive, but it's the first milestone (however small) that i've really hit so far and I started out weak even for my age/height.
My next goal rn is to hit 135lbs on my bench, hopefully before June (i'm at 105 4x4/95 4x8 atm).
I'm personally taking this period as a chance to truly once and for all build up my rotator cuffs and fix my hips (at least for the foreseeable future). Sitting all day, most days haven't been the kindest to me as I'm someone who derives mobility from movement so keeping moving either through nightly walks, workouts, or stretching has been essential.
I ain't doing anything after lockdown.
Every four or five days i do 4 sets of ab-wheel, 4 sets of dips, 4 sets of pike press, 4 sets of pistol squats and that's it.
I miss the gym. I miss my old routine.
