Anyone into cars? What are you driving?
Pretty much the title.
I have a black 2017 Focus ST that I've been enjoying for a year and a half myself. Would like to hear about what others are driving!

I've got a 97 Nissan Stagea (JDM import). I have a massive obsession with performance wagons.
I want a Volvo 240 wagon so bad. Consider me jelly haha
Yeah I'd love to own an immaculate stock volvo wagon and do a Barra conversion. Thanks one of my dream projects.
There's something about performance wagons. They're fun and practical at the same time, so you can daily drive something quick, but still do the weekly shopping or take the kids camping.
Wagons are life. I settled for a hatchback, which is close, but just not the same.
I've got a '06 Mitsubishi Colt CZ3. Unfortunately cars are expensive where I live, so maybe I will get something faster and better handling in a few years. But till then I can't complain, not many students have a car here.
It's all about having fun with what you got! Those little engines can do a lot if you build them up. This is an extreme example, but take a look at the M-Sport Fiesta R2 >> https://www.m-sport.co.uk/motorsport/rallying/m-sport-the-cars/fiesta-r2-details/technical-specification << That has a 1L I3 and those get up and GO!
I've always wanted a Miata, but practicality is something I value, and those just aren't practical enough :(
Just drive it around off-road! I use to have a 95 Ranger and would take it everywhere. It was actually my favorite vehicle I've owned.
I was trying to welcome all strains of cars. I'm a fan of just about everything. Slammed, lifted, fast, slow. You done any mods to it? Or is it stock?
Keep it stock until it breaks. That's my moto for off-roading vehicles. Most people get one and just start slapping on parts before the learn what they really need. It's funny and frustrating at the same time.
That's a valid point, thank you! Nice Fiesta by the way, I did not know that small engines could be so powerful.
They can be, if you're willing to put in the work. I have the Focus ST, not Fiesta, but I kinda wish I went that route. Those things are a helluva time.
Handling is easy to improve. A set of coilovers will make your car handle better than cars twice the price, and you can swap them out yourself with no special tools (just get them adjusted and wheels aligned after, which is cheap at any wheel/suspension shop).
It'll also make the car "feel" quicker, satisfying the urge for more performance for a fair while.
I have a 2017 GTI Autobahn. 6-speed, because automatics are awful.
Eeeyyyyyy, fellow hothatch brother. Love the GTI's. They're so clean.
Used '14 Mazda 3 iGT. Got the automatic because my wife can't drive stick (yet). For a 2.0L 4 cylinder, I've never been disappointed with its acceleration. Gas mileage is great, and unofficial Android Auto is fantastic.
Overall, I'm really happy with it and plan to get a newer one in 5 or 6 years.
The newer Mazda 3s are pretty slick looking. My ST 2L I4 (with a small turbo, but still) and I'm very impressed. Economy wise, I don't think I'll be getting a much bigger engine anytime soon. Modern engineering is doing amazing things with these smaller engines.
Currently a GX470, but I would like to get another car for a daily driver. A GS-F would be perfect!
I sold my FC RX7 when I bought my house. That might have been something of a blessing since it was becoming cheaper to buy an entire other car for parts than to purchase individual parts when something broke! My wife lost her mind when I needed a transmission and came home with another car, same for when I wanted the factory LSD! Thankfully it was easy enough to take what I needed and eventually sell the rest, but donor cars do not make for a happy home.
Sounds like some fun rides! You will be missed RX-7. The FC is probably my top 5 most wanted cars. I love the way they look, sound, and just are. Shame you got rid of it, but I guess we all grow up sooner or later hahah
They are really easy to work on, they perform great, but are really starting to show their age. It's even harder to find one that has not been poorly maintained or shoddily modified. It seriously is cheaper to buy an entire rolling chassis for parts than to buy individual components. In a few years this trend might reverse itself. My neighbors were happy for it to go, Apex exhaust and a Bridgeport was fairly loud. I do miss the looks I got at the gas station when I dumped 2-stroke mix into the tank before filling up!
Tesla S P90D.
Nice. I love the idea of an EV but doesn't suit the rural driving I do here. I'm waiting for a more "practical" EV like a wagon with stupid long range but less performance.
How has your experience been so far?
I want an electric car for commuting so bad. I would have to get solar first before I actually felt good about it though.
2018 BRZ. Wasn't sure how I would feel about "downgrading" from a BMW 3 Series, but the only luxury feature I really miss is leather seats.
Not hard to get a retrim. I've done it a couple times. Can bolster up the seats a bit and reshape them to suit you at the same time. Do it to a pair of seats from a wrecker and you can still put your car back to stock if you need to as well.
That’s a great suggestion. I’ll add that to my list of mods. There’s a pretty big 86 community in my area so ot shouldn’t be hard to find parts or experience.
Nice! I've been looking at the 86, but the practicality just isn't there enough for me to justify... I wish I could though. They're so much fun to drive.
Planning to buy a Volvo xc40 soon...
Those are sweet. Bought our first Volvo late October of last year, the '18 XC60. Its fantastic. We live in a heavy snow, rural area on a dirt road that is a mountain pass with a steep grade. It handles it like a champ. It is by far and away the most comfortable/easy vehicle I've ever had. I love all the safety features although I must say some of the electronic safety features took some getting used to. beep
Volvos are simply outstanding.
Can't go wrong with a Volvo. I'd love an XC70 for camping and road trips.
Love Volvo's! I wish I could get a good condition 240 wagon. I love those things!
Nice! I've always had a love/hate relationship with BMW's personally. Love the way the perform and look, but hate the maintenance/cost to own.... HA
Fingers crossed for you! I love a good NA engine, but I also love econo cars, so turbo is the way for me. Plus they add a lot of character to a car sometimes. But I wish I could afford a solid 6 or 8 cylinder engine.
too true
I drive a 2012 Nissan Altima. Originally fell in love with Altimas because my grandfather had one when he still lived in the US; my first one was a 2008 and I was lucky to be able to get the 2012 for a great deal. My favorite things about the car are its insane trunk volume, the wonderful amount of leg room for all passengers, and the very smooth, "cloud-like" handling. I even impromptu highway-raced some asshole in a mini cooper in the 2008 one and had a great time smoking them.
Have a buddy with an Altima. Nice cars for the money. :) Was it a Cooper S? That's pretty impressive.
Ah, I don't remember, it was quite a few years ago. Plus, they were behind me the whole time ;-)
Prius.
Two engines is clearly twice as good as one!
Oh shit. Please spare me
wat
i was just making a joke
