I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic in January at age 27, 5'9", and 218 pounds. I'm currently back to being pre-diabetic at 170 pounds after starting meds, changing up my diet, and doing CrossFit 5 days a week, with a goal of qualifying for Regionals before I hit 30.

The opposition to the ban came from those who expressed concern with Trump's comments during his campaign about banning Muslim immigrants. The minority opinion explicitly called these comments out as worrisome, however the majority opinion said that they should be overlooked in this instance, citing matters of "national security".

Banning immigrants of a certain religion was unconstitutional, until it was for National Security.

Is "slippery slope" still a fallacy?

Git has garbage collection. If a blob isn't referenced by any tree, you can run the GC and it'll clean up that blob and all other de-referenced artifacts.

This sort of thing is a big strike against keeping all history with a project forever: people accidentally checking in huge binaries.

I doubt it, since law enforcement still won't acknowledge that they use stingrays in the first place.

I also commented on the databases thread, but this one got us recently.

The default password for the admin account our software uses turned up in a list of hacked accounts online. Shortly thereafter, we started receiving calls about our software going down. One call turned into two, turned into four, etc.

Turns out that, because our target market is small groups without dedicated IT, few of our customers bothered changing the password, even after having been instructed to. Because that password leaked, many of our customers faced malware attacks, mostly ransomware.

Our support team was completely overwhelmed. Every team tangentially related to the software halted everything (deployment, implementation, development) for two weeks to call every customer we have and help them deal with everything.

It was a goddamn nightmare. Change your passwords, folks.

Our software is sold to small groups of people, usually without dedicated IT. It's also mission critical and possibly life-saving (or threatening). We tell them to adhere to the 3-2-1 principle. At least 3 physical backups in at least 2 physical locations at least 1 time a week.

Because their resources are limited, and due to the nature of the software, if they're unable to comply with that principle, we refer them to our services team at whatever rate they can afford.

Databases can be and often are scary, as a point of failure, but they don't have to be.

That's a no go, for me. Which is a bummer, because I love GPM.

This was the thing about private servers. Some friends and I tried old-school vanilla, and it's just not as fun as you'd expect. I miss the old zones and quests, but there have been so many quality of life improvements to the game over the years that playing without them felt awful.

If they can manage to bring a lot of the improvements back to vanilla and still retain what made it special, then I feel like Classic will have some serious staying power.

Overall, I'm really happy with it and plan to get a newer one in 5 or 6 years.

Given everything GitLab does, I wouldn't necessarily say deplorable... Some people don't need all of the features, in which case, there are probably better solutions for them.
