A set of coilovers will make your car handle better than cars twice the price, and you can swap them out yourself with no special tools (just get them adjusted and wheels aligned after, which is cheap at any wheel/suspension shop).
It'll also make the car "feel" quicker, satisfying the urge for more performance for a fair while.

There's something about performance wagons. They're fun and practical at the same time, so you can daily drive something quick, but still do the weekly shopping or take the kids camping.

I think OP is heavily overreacting anyway. It's not expensive to run a text only site. Tildes users already seem passionate enough that I'm sure donations could cover it. I've seen bigger sites manage fine.
And, as @deimos says above, there's a lot to be said for NOT trying to be "the biggest" and just finding a nice balance point.

I'm all for expanding our meta-industries like the satellite tracking and space-related science (like CSIRO are doing), but I think we should be focusing on internal issues first. They're already destroying the ABC, Medicare, and other services "because money".
We're in wars we have no place being in, education and medical costs are constantly climbing while government support programs get gutted, our internet is an absolute bloody joke and outright shameful for a country as developed as ours, and so many more issues that could be addressed to boost us up to a more suitable position to be looking to the stars.

I'm much more likely to add formatting to a post if the site has markdown.
I think a linked cheat sheet in the docs could be good, but a full WYSIWYG editor is adding a lot of clutter for something very few people would use in general. If it's added, I'd hope it's opt-in via settings.

This thread is almost too nostalgic to read through.
Nostalgia is a hugely powerful thing in my life. I imagine reading this thread is what older generations felt like when going through old photo albums. The memories are overwhelming.
I started in ~90. Did the whole BBSes thing, pre-images web, IRC, FTP server communities, Telnet BBSes, CGI based forums, ran some pretty huge forums, then social networks destroyed it all and added very little real value. Ever since then, I just stew away shooing kids off my lawn and talking about the good old days.
