A new Ex-Mormon community

In the worst case scenario that Reddit dies; I'm going to miss the /r/exmormon community the most. It's a religion that is not easy to leave (many societal repercussions); and many ex-members experiencing a "faith transition" rely on the discussions in that sub (275K+ subscribers).

We have a monthly mental health topic, which could fall under that a bit: Hi, How are you? Mental Health Support and Discussion Thread where a lot of these kinds of things get discussed. With the large influx of people might need to up frequency.

That said, the pattern here would be roughly "Post in ~talk, tag with ex.mormon and ask.help".

As much help as that sub was to me several years ago, Tildes is definitely not the place for it I think. Feeds aren't really separate here, with everything combining on the homepage, whereas exmo is definitely more of a "space" for people with a common thread of experience. I'd probably look at helping establish the community at Lemmy Exmo or Squabble Exmo.

I very much enjoyed the excatholic subreddit (same idea, different flavour), but there's a discord at least. Perhaps there's an exmo discord out there?
