What’s Pride month like for you?
Coincidentally checked right after this went up, hi gay friends!
As someone living in the South, Pride is actually a fall/spring thing, so I don’t have much to look forward to offline with Pride this month.
What stories and events do y’all have?
Honestly Pride for me is just a time to feel worse about being closeted in my day-to-day life. It's a positive thing and we sure as fuck shouldn't forget Stonewall, but it just alienates me personally.
Scary.
If I had the energy and the money, I'd travel to Oklahoma City for the Pride Festival but honestly I would feel incredibly awkward.
In terms of things I do, not much. I was mostly homeschooled in highschool so I never really got into the scene or anything, and I'm not really a party or parade guy to begin with. But I always think it's a good time to self-reflect in general, and a good time to be thankful I live in a part of the world where being gay is not only tolerated but truly accepted. Combined with the fact that it's June, a time of the year we can kick back and do things we can't normally do, to me the month represents a time of thankfulness and joy :)
I don't really get all that involved in in-group celebration and whatnot. For the most part Pride Month for me is just me answering an above average number of questions about gender and sexual minorities in places like Askreddit because I still cling to the hope that there are some folks out there who can be cured of ignorance.
Nothing IRL, but it's lovely to see the celebrations going on online :)
Just the same as any other month for me, but hey, I might get some of my LGBT coworkers stuff.
