Positive coming out experiences?
The world needs more positivity. Do you have any positive stories from when you came out? Or maybe any positive experiences from being openly queer in general?
If you're still in the closet for whatever reason, that's perfectly alright!
When I came out as nonbinary to my family on social media, one of the first responses was along the lines of "You be you!", it was so nice. I also ended up coming out as nonbinary to my old HS classmates in a "Where are you now?" thread. I had three responses like "Hey did you know X is nonbinary too?!"
I think my favorite experience was when my family found out I was polyamorous (technically not lgbtq+, but coming out was a similar process). I told them that I had two partners and "I know it's weird... It's just how I am. It makes me happy." My mom told me that I wasn't 'weird', it's just not mainstream. Ever since then I bring my partners over to my parents about as often as I go and my parents just treat them like they've treated previous partners. No weird questions about how things work, no stigma. I even brought them both to extended family events and everyone loves them.
My immediate family was meh, but when I came out on Facebook, responses were wholly positive - even from my grandmother’s sister, which was surprising, as she grew up in the 1930s and 40s. Ended up even getting a message a few months later from an old friend from high school who saw my post and stuff, and proceeded to come out to me as being enby, which was cool.
I came out as a trans to my best friend of six years. First thing he said to me was "I always KNEW you were a girl!" and then he gave me the biggest hug ever.
I've never loved a guy more than I have at that moment <3
My parents have been somewhat accepting, it's just that they highkey forgot?
