What do you look for in a nail salon?
I'm sure most of the nail salon choices near me are fine, but I'm going to have to choose. Are there any red flags I should look for? Are there indications of quality that aren't the same as most expensive option? Any advice would be helpful.
From a health/ safety perspective, look for salons that use a different buffer and file for each client, since they can't be sterilized. Spa pedicure baths should be lined with single-use covers and be cleaned between uses.
Other than that, I've found nail places to be SUPER hit and miss. When looking at reviews, also look at the names of the recommended technicians. Most places have one or two technicians that are good, but the other staff might not be as good.
I think reviews are the best bet. I’ve paid more for a bad mani than I have for a great one, so cost isn’t always an indicator! I don’t get acrylic nails or nail art or anything beyond a simple colour, but if I wanted that I’d be looking on Instagram for a hashtag like #[city]nailart or whatever - find a style you like and figure out where they got it done
Want me to move this topic to ~life.style, @boxer_dogs_dance? It could use some more content, and I think this topic is rather appropriate for there. Or is there a particular reason you put it in the more generic ~talk group?

Please, move it wherever you feel it fits. I thought about life.style. Thank you.
