Released in 1994, two years before their (imo perfect) album The Score, the Fugees hadn’t quite landed on their unique sound - though there are flashes of it in some tracks, like Vocab - but it holds up as a solid album.
If you like early 90s hip hop you’ll probably like this

I’ve been following the Garmin daily suggested workouts and they’re perfect for me right now. What I need to improve on is stretching right after - my calves are like rocks and I’m struggling to make the muscles relax with massage and stretching.
My weight training has stalled a little. Arthritis in my wrist means I can’t hold my heavier weights, but it’s abated enough that I can do the routine with very light weights (2.5kg). It feels a little pointless although I know any movement is better than none.
My weight is hovering, every day up or down 1kg. It’s annoying. I can’t count calories because it triggers old ED habits, which makes it tough. I’m really going on intuition that I’m eating less than I need (I do have a BSc in Nutrition and calorie counted for about 10 years on and off, so I’m not going in blind). I’m sure I’ll get there eventually, I just want it to happen faster!

Good luck with the weight loss! It’s such a simple thing and yet so hard to do. I’ve successfully lost 30kg (65lbs ish) in the last 2 years and I’m stuck here with 6-10kg more to go. So I’ll be here to cheer on your efforts there too!

They tend to get up 6-6.30 now they’re a bit older (6 and 4) but my body is set in the old routine
Make breakfast whenever the kids get up. I only have coffee in the morning.
7am start homework (reading and spelling). I only barely have to supervise this so I’ll catch up on my phone stuff - tildes, news, WhatsApp chats etc
8am get dressed. If both kids are in school/daycare I put on my running stuff as I’ll go right after drop off.
8.30am leave the house for the walk to school (15mins). Go for a run immediately (6-11km currently depending on day)
9.30-10am arrive home.
On fridays I head to the school to teach ethics to 10 6-7 year olds as a volunteer. It’s a nice way to give back to the school.
On weekends the kids are allowed to get up and watch tv as long as the lamp is on - we have it on a timer so they don’t get up and watch tv too early. Often they’ll make themselves cereal too so we get “a lie in” - in reality I might get up at 6.30 rather than 5.30 so it’s not much. I don’t love lying in bed doing nothing

I talked about race with the other replied so I won’t rehash here, but also situations like custody battles - I can see not wanting to give the other parent any ammo!
So while these might not be official laws on the books, it may still be a factor in parenting. And I think there’s a certain element of following the crowd: if you don’t see many kids on your street and your kids friends aren’t allowed out, you might decide to keep your kids in too. Any factor which stops a few parents might contribute in a larger way to the overall trend this way

I think it makes sense what you’ve said here about power hungry cops and racism being factors in these laws - BUT, we have to make sure we aren’t centering this conversation around white as the default, right? So while white Americans might be able to dismiss these (laws? Unofficial rules?), they’re still a factor for a large portion of the population (perhaps nationally, perhaps only of given communities) in how they parent and allow their kids to play.
And of course, we know that for the parents of Black and Brown children, them getting in trouble themselves for letting their kids play outside alone is probably a much lower worry than what could happen to the child in a confrontation with police.

I didn’t like him then (and still don’t like him as a person now) but there are some truly beautiful and brilliant songs on this album. It’s unfortunate that there are also some real duds; it’s not a “perfect album”, for me - i.e. one I’d listen to front to back without skipping any. In the spirit of doing this thing properly, however, I have done a full front to back listen this time.
This album shines where Moby really leans in to the blues influence imo. My highlights: porcelain; why does my heart feel so bad; natural blues; if things were perfect; everlong; guitar flute & string; my weakness.

Even in the yard (though this may have just be on the military base a friend lived on rather than a state law).
So it’s not necessarily people being neurotic

Really hoping for big things for them after they support The Foo Fighters later this year

Something I’ve been doing for fast runs is to play albums which have the same BPM as my cadence at the speed I want. The music is terrible but the beat is helpful! You could try something like that for a slower run

I’ve followed the garmin suggested workout and WOW the speeds felt horribly slow at first, but then I realised that I felt like I could pretty much run forever. My VO2 max is improving more quickly too. Who knew running painfully slow was the key?! (Apart from, you know, every running professional and seasoned runner un the whole world).
For my weight training I’ve not done much this week. An arthritis flare up in my wrist means I can’t hold the weights without pain. Thinking about getting some wrist weights - they don’t come in very heavy weight usually but it’s a little better than body weight at least, and will help me keep consistent

I like giving gifts which are crafty and then get used up (ie no need for the parents to find somewhere to keep things) eg bath bomb making kit. My kid is this age and it always goes down well with kids and parents alike!
