Running is going really well for me lately! My long run is up to 11km and my every day runs are around 6km. I run 5-6 times a week. I’ve been following the Garmin daily suggested workouts and they’re perfect for me right now. What I need to improve on is stretching right after - my calves are like rocks and I’m struggling to make the muscles relax with massage and stretching.

My weight training has stalled a little. Arthritis in my wrist means I can’t hold my heavier weights, but it’s abated enough that I can do the routine with very light weights (2.5kg). It feels a little pointless although I know any movement is better than none.

My weight is hovering, every day up or down 1kg. It’s annoying. I can’t count calories because it triggers old ED habits, which makes it tough. I’m really going on intuition that I’m eating less than I need (I do have a BSc in Nutrition and calorie counted for about 10 years on and off, so I’m not going in blind). I’m sure I’ll get there eventually, I just want it to happen faster!

My dear fitness pals, I finally ran a 5k :') there's a free parkrun nearby that is held every Saturday. I ran it in 43min and am very proud of myself! Not super fast, but that time includes several instances of walking. I tried the Runna app, but you only get the first week free. I'm really bummed, because it's a fucking subscription service. Very annoying, trying to figure out if I can justify it but at $14 a month it's not super cheap.

I feel like at this point, I need to focus more on overall weight loss and losing fat. Really hard for me, but it's the next step I know I need to take. I'm thinking of visiting a dietician for some guidance. Like, I know how to lose weight and the like, but sometimes I just want to be told what to do instead and go from there lol.

Good luck with the weight loss! It’s such a simple thing and yet so hard to do. I’ve successfully lost 30kg (65lbs ish) in the last 2 years and I’m stuck here with 6-10kg more to go. So I’ll be here to cheer on your efforts there too!

Thank you, I will definitely need the luck for weight loss. I lost weight the first time in college but I was much poorer so calorie counting was easy and junk food was harder to justify and get. I'll be trying to switch it up this time and eat more or less as I do, include some initial calorie counting and try to get back into it intermittent fasting. That's worked well before for me.

Congrats on your weight loss!! That's amazing! The last little bit always feels the hardest. We can cheer each other on!

No, don't go for Runna. I'm thinking about using it for an ultramarathon but even then I'm not sure if it's worth it. I would suggest a training plan from the Nike Run Club app. It's free and a great way to get started. I used their marathon training plan and was pleased with it. Plus you can do guided runs where coaches and professional runners will talk to you during your runs and encourage you, tell stories, and help you work out.

Thank you!!! I'll check it out, I appreciate the recommendation. It sounds great, especially if you get all those features for free.

Its nice, and gets me to feel good about doing nothing for the rest of the day cause my arms just straight up dont work after :) im 237lbs now so it aint easy doing it either. Using macro factor to track calories after it was suggested elsewhere on tildes and its been really fun as well, much easier to log regularly now that im used to journaling three times daily. Goal weight is 200lbs.

I'm thinking of getting a walkpad. Not for my desk as I like standing while I work. But there are times I'm watching TV and want to be up and moving while I watch. I think a walkpad would be good since it doesn't take up too much space.

Anyone have any experience with these or suggestions for brands?

I bought a mini stepper for this reason. It’s much more compact than a walkpad if storage space is an issue!

Either way though, I still feel bloated.

The bloat is real. I find that creatine supplementation increases my water weight by 1-1.5 kg.

A friend of mine, when he started creatine, was once so bloated you could see his swollen stomach. It went away after he took a dump.

I believe it helped a bit with power in the past, but I will see if it was just training, causing improvements, or a placebo.

Wrapped up the last week of my hypertrophy block. In a moderate deload now, no changes to movements, reps still moderately high, but sets cut in half. I'm feeling much more energetic with lowered training stress but mental fatigue is still kind of high, hopefully deeper into the week that starts to fade a bit.

Loads have stalled a bit, I'm sure it's due to maxing out stimulus to this type of training. Looking forward to a more strength oriented block and pushing the numbers a bit.

Weight is slowly dropping still, more consistently around 106kg each day. I'm doing much better hitting my protein target of 200g each day. Would like to settle just under 105kg for a while before trying to cut a bit more. If I can swap out 5kg of fat for a bit more muscle I'll be in a much more competitive place, but that's going to be a multi year process since I'm not prepared to cut hard and undermine my strength.
