I usually had to attempt the Eldredge several times before I got it right though, I'm terrible at judging where in the tie should be my starting point.

Personally I’ve always found it hard to translate this perspective (looking at the knot from the front) to my own point of view (looking down at the knot while tying it around my own neck). While this is helpful, I think I’d prefer a similar resource with illustrations from that angle.
Funny how that works. I can't tie a tie unless I'm wearing it, for whatever reason my brain just can't handle switching things around if I try and help someone else.

Half Windsor has been my go to. I wore it for work daily for about a year and a half and now it's burned in my muscle memory.
It's the one I always go to. I wear a tie so infrequently that it's not automatic though, but it looks the best for the effort.
Yeah it really is the easiest knot to tie and correct to make it look good, even if it takes multiple tries.
