I've never heard of this person before, but I'm 3min in and I'm hooked.

Day 7: I ran for six hours and picked up every bit of rubbish I found

Day 7: I ran for six hours and picked up every bit of rubbish I found

Driving to the tip one day with a full trailer load I noticed, serendipitously you might say, how much rubbish was on the roadside. I thought ‘gee, I’m heading to the tip, I really should pick up the rubbish on my way!’ But no, with too little time, nor space in the trailer, I just went about my predictable business and the rubbish stayed where it lay. This day of newness is about making good of that idea and going to the tip with an empty trailer, filling it on the way! Simple as that. This is day 7 of 12 days of newness.

Day 12: Running a marathon inside a luxury hotel

Day 12: Running a marathon inside a luxury hotel

When I asked the manager of a five star hotel in Seattle if I could run a marathon around the hallways and stairwells, conference room and lobby, pool deck and bar and anywhere else that was vaguely runnable, I was shocked when she said yes. I even asked if she was sure. ‘Yes, that’ll be fine. Just be safe’ You bloody beauty, I replied. Then after a few moments of thinking about the run through ‘bugger, I now have to run a hotel in the marathon’. So that’s what I did.

And speaking of exciting, I also noticed in this latest video he said he was "self-employed" now, and ran to some workspace other than his office at the University (like he normally does in these "commute to work" videos)... So he is presumably no longer working there, and I'm desperately hoping that means he intends to work on videos full-time now. And since he also finally joined Patreon last week, it looks like that might actually be the case. 🤞

It should have been titled, "Yo dawg, I heard you like painting!" :P

Also, the portrait of Beau was actually really damn good.

This video reminded me of a day my brothers and I had with my dad.

We'd gotten this fiberglass kayak from his GF's ex-husband and decided to go up to the snow, and basically had a few hours of Jackass-style fun with it dragging up this ski slope, and bombing it with this sit-in tub-style kayak, while respecting everybody else who was there for the sledding (we'd clear the hill, make sure everybody was safe, do our run, and it would be 10-15 minutes before we could do our next run). I think we maybe let some older kids use it with parental consent, because it was kinda dangerous, but still tons of fun.

I think little May had a day she's going to remember for the rest of her life.

Yeah, that's going to be a core memory of hers for sure. Incidentally, I also have a bunch similar memories of tobogganing (and skiing) with my parents when I was super young too. :)

Day 8: Tennis where every point is on a different court

Day 8: Tennis where every point is on a different court

My best mate was a semi-pro tennis player. And amazingly, for all the time we’ve known each other, we’ve never played a set of tennis. I thought it was about time we had ourselves a game! I proposed that every point should be played on a different court. With good friend Robby along as umpire/coach/net holder and road-trip advisor, we started in the city and ended in the country- getting my arse kicked across half the state! This was a wickedly fun, horrible game of tennis.

Day 9: Sweaty man makes handmade hay bales

Day 9: Sweaty man makes handmade hay bales

When men in their tractors towing harvesters made silage on my paddock recently I wandered around the giant green bails and marvelled at the efficiency of the process. But I also noticed entire seams of cut grass still left on the ground. I thought, you know what, I could run around and gather up the leftover hay, and make my own bails!’. So that’s what I did.

Day 10: This is what I thought while skydiving

Day 10: This is what I thought while skydiving

Helen gave me a skydive for my 40th Birthday, but the business went bust during Covid, so I didn’t get to jump. A few years later I decided to give it a go. It’s not really my thing in some respects- spending so much money on a quick thrill. But I also love the idea of freefall. This is my experience of being strapped to a man I’ve never met, and plummeting to earth.

Day 11: Making a wooden raft to paddle a Canadian river

Day 11: Making a wooden raft to paddle a Canadian river

I’ve lived in Canada before, but I never went rafting, and I’ve never actually built a raft. This first is right where I want to be; in the outdoors, hunting down wood, building something, completely immersed. Joining me on the river is Dave, a local river guide who turns out to be an immensely likeable dude. This was the coldest, most satisfying, life affirming first thus far.
