Tildes Video Thread
Find yourself watching tons of great videos on [insert chosen video sharing platform], but also find yourself reluctant to flood the Tildes front page with them? Then this thread is for you.
It could be one quirky video that you feel deserves some eyeballs on it, or perhaps you've got a curated list of videos that you'd love to talk us through...
Share some of the best video content you've watched this past week/fortnight with us!
Can we post our own videos? We (my partner and I) shot a video on a hike, and for the first time worked with log footage and color grading and I thought it was pretty cool.
Of course you can! The more, the merrier.
Alright, then here it is: our wild hike in thailand - working title. We’ve changed it 5 times in the last week. I almost posted it in the ~enviro subgroup since my girlfriend did quite some research for this video. It’s a hike in the national park of Koh Phangan- an island famous for the full moon party. We spent quite a few months there in the last few years and the story was super fascinating.
Maybe some of you have seen videos of the recent floods. This is the third time a bad rain has caused roads to completely flood in the last few months. We’ve also made a video on our experience there and shared some visuals if anyone cares to see it.
You can really see the effects of climate change, and with the crazy amount of building and deforestation, it’s pretty hard to stay optimistic, because it’s an amazing place. The fact that such a large portion of the island is protected is a big contrast. Maybe the video puts it into words better, it’s also a bit late here. Curious about any feedback!
That was a great video. Really well narrated, shot, and edited. Kinda crazy that the only trail markers were those spray-painted red dots. Genuinely beautiful place too, but I'm with you on it being a bit sad to see so much plastic everywhere on the beach. :( Thanks for sharing!
p.s. Subscribed. :)
Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes the trail markers were wild. It said it in the video but it really felt like in ocarina of time when you’re in the desert and you have to find your way from pole to pole.
The nature there is stunning. Sadly it’s becoming more and more developed and there’s a lot of deforestation and erosion happening. This season, the streets flooded 3 times (most recently a couple days ago)
As for the plastic, there’s a few beach cleanups meeting regularly at different beaches. But the plastic usage in Thailand (I think in Asia general) is sadly very high.
And thanks for subscribing :D
The Google Interview Question Everyone Gets Wrong
YouTube – Veritasium – 18th February 2025
I remember reading the book How Would You Move Mount Fuji and thinking it was all very annoying, even though I like logic puzzles. I think it's good that google realized it wasn't helping them pick good candidates. I wonder if Microsoft still does these questions.
Not exactly a video, but I recently came across this thread on Lemmy about long-form Youtube creators. Plenty of great channels on there, so figured some people here might be interested in the thread.
Two of my emerging favorites in aviation-themed channels just had a crossover episode the other day: Juan from blancolirio showed up on the Mover and Gonky show.
Everything We Know About EverQuest 3 (It's Not Called EverQuest 3).
I recently started a YouTube channel for my creations and playthroughs of Empyrion Galactic Survival running the Reforged Eden 2 scenario. The game has a pretty steep learning curve, but the voxel creation tools allow for some really neat designs and it's got me completely immersed.
