Has anyone watched the new Hayao Miyazaki movie ('Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka', or 'The Boy and the Heron')?

The question is for the tilderinoos from japan( cause the movie only released there till now,i think).Did you watch the new miyazaki movie Heron and the boy /How do you live.
How was it and heard it is different from his usual MO,If so how is it different?
Also try to keep posts to no to low spoilers so as not to ruin it for the rest of us ,Thank you.
I love ghibli movies and i for one can't wait to watch it when it releases here.Probably will do a ghibli studio marathon till i wait for this movie.
Has anyone read "How do you live " by Yoshio Genzaburō or "The book of lost things" by John Connolly both said have been an influence for this movie?
Should i read them before watching the film?

I have not. I haven't watched a Studio Ghibli movie for a while now. Everything after Howl's Moving Castle got more and more "dry" and mundane; I remember being very disappointed when I saw The Wind Rises in theaters and found myself bored. And I'm an animation nut! I have seen movies and shows just for how interesting the animation looked! Since then I saw When Marnie Was There for free (a good film, just not one that interested me) and Earwig and the Witch (which I actually thought was the best thing I have seen from them for a while; it was sadly underappreciated) casually, but have not been seeking out their work specifically.

I'm really interested in hearing what people have to say about this one, though. I've been purposefully dodging all the visuals I can and waiting for what people actually say about it before I see it.

The Wind Rises is actually one of my favorite films from Ghibli, but it's definitively slower and has a different feel from the others.

As I mentioned in a previous thread on this, since there was no promotional material it feels like nearly anything counts as a spoiler. But since OP asked for it, I’ll answer his specific questions. But if you want to go in blind stop reading. I’ll use the old school forum technique of writing

    SPOILERS

    • How was it

It’s a lot of fun, you’re going to enjoy it.

    • heard it is different from his usual MO,If so how is it different

On the contrary, I’d say it’s on brand for Miyazaki.

    • The book

I haven’t read either book myself, but I went with a friend who had years ago, and it’s just tangentially related. That will be clear as you watch. But maybe if you read them right before you’ll spot more things b

I haven't watched it yet, but maybe tomorrow (Saturday). The thing is, everything I've heard is that it's nothing truly groundbreaking- Miyazaki basically did a bunch of recycling of his other works for this movie. Now, I know some people will complain about this, but I think that's actually for the best- remember, only the poster and name were released, and it was going on 100% brand power to be successful. If the movie ended up completely different from anything Miyazaki had done before, I expect there would've been a lot of shell-shock (which apparently some critics love, but I prefer to know what I'm getting myself into).

I'm sorry for the off-topic comment, but I wanted to let you know that you can press <enter> twice after a line to create a separate paragraph. I've noticed your comments have all been extremely densely packed because they're using line breaks, rather than separate paragraphs.

I know markdown can be unintuitive for all the little quirks like that, so I just thought I'd mention it.
