I find this to be pretty bad news too so I can only agree with your comment, and I also talked about it briefly in this thread I wrote after watching Ahsoka. Clearly it is the way they are taking...

Clearly it is the way they are taking things but this news only makes me lose more faith in the Star Wars universe. It's just a shame because it has so much potential, and yet here we are

I'm tired of endless sand and bounty hunters, and vapid retreads of the OT that do it in a worse way. I wasn't even interested in the Boba Fett show when they announced it several years too late, because Mandalorian was already basically that.
Filoni being George Lucas' protege is a definite win though.
I can't disagree more. The only things, post sale, of any value are andor, rogue one, and the first 2 seasons of the mandalorian. All that stuff is great and perfectly in line with george lucas...

All that stuff is great and perfectly in line with george lucas era lucasarts star wars games. Jedi are fun but Disney has failed and failed again to create compelling narratives with space wizards and laser swords.
I think if we hadn't been on such a superhero tear the last 15 years, I might be more interested in the Jedi. But, as it is, I completely agree with you.

Filoni is a massive Star Wars fan which means that for him everything set in the Star Wars universe is great. I can't fault him for liking Star Wars, but I do think it's really ridiculous not to ask "does this script work if not set in the Star Wars universe" (this should be a necessary condition for all scripting) before comissioning content.

I guarantee him being in charge for the sequel trilogy would've led to something better than... whatever it is we got.

How do you pronounce "IIIIIIIIII"?
I imagine it's like a portion of dial-up tone
