I would suspect that there's quite a lot that has gotten the axe in the last year or so. Disney has even canceled some films they made relatively big announcements for, like the live-action Moana remake. They just haven't made the monumentally stupid mistake of completely finishing major releases and then just saying "nope, no movie for you, adoring public".

(I'm actually kind of glad they canceled the Moana remake, though. That was just a terrible idea.)

Did I miss something recent? Last I heard they merely pushed it back, especially now that they promoted the Moana TV show into a sequel.

That was greenlit by the now ousted president (who was the one that loved relying on old Disney IP) and replaced by the former head of Searchlight (likely due to the box office success of Poor Things) who’s been given a new mandate to try to create new IP. As far as we know though it’s still happening.

I didn't know about this but wow am I glad the guy responsible for just reusing old IPs is gone. Don't get me wrong I love old Disney movies like Mulan, but I hate nostalgia baiting. I'd much...

I'd much rather Disney make new things that I can eventually look back on fondly like I do their older works.

this announcement last week has made me the most excited I've been about new live-action Disney content in a very long time.

Tron: Ares was the last project he greenlit. Which I would be more excited for if it was being handled by Kosinski, or if it was being handled by a more interesting filmmaker rather than the guy...

He's sticking around as producer on Ares as well. As a big Tron fan (especially Tron Legacy), I'm worried it won't be very good...
