Can we stop squeezing the life out of every good movie with a money grab sequel?

We can, but the people who own the rights, and have little to lose by trying, cannot.

I’m looking forward to this one personally. Feels like a good time to bring Happy back, considering the growth of golf since COVID. They’ve really managed to get almost everyone in golf involved...

They’ve really managed to get almost everyone in golf involved too. Maybe it’s through Full Swing, which is also on Netflix?

I haven't minded a couple of the Happy Madison-Netflix productions (fun fact: Happy Madison was the first major production company to partner up with Netflix). Murder Mystery was alright entertainment. I thought Hubie Halloween was funnier than it had any right to be. Hustle was an okay drama. And You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, which was an obvious vehicle for Sandler's daughter, was genuinely a good well-made movie.

I gotta say though, this looks dreadful. Seems like most of the comedy is gonna come from references to the original.

I have enjoyed the vast majority of Adam Sandler's movies over the years as well, especially his dramatic stuff (Punch-Drunk Love and Reign Over Me are two of my absolute favs). But I've even enjoyed most of his really dumb comedies too, which are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. The only dumb ones I didn't enjoy were Jack & Jill and Don't Mess with the Zohan. But I have to agree with you that, unfortunately, Happy Gilmore 2 doesn't look particularly promising, at least based on this trailer. :/

I saw Zohan when I was a kid so I love that movie. His body transformation for that was crazy.

It's all pretty vague memories at this point though. So maybe I should rewatch it, since I only ever watched it once when it first came out, and maybe I just wasn't in a Sandler comedy mood at the time or something. Also, goddamn, way to make me feel old. ;)
