I unironically love the 90s movie and this feels like its keeping a lot of that energy. Just having a car punching scene makes me feel like they get it.

I still have my doubts about this movie but at least it looks like they're trying to go for fun. I do worry about having more household names like 50 Cent and Jason Momoa playing second tier SF characters may not be a good sign but that could be offset through the inclusion of Eric Andre, Orville Peck and seeing Andrew Shulz get (fake) punched in the face. Also, David Dastmalachian has had a lot of recent success but to me he will always be that guy from Batman Begins
It's kinda weird, we saw Centineo's Ken for 2 seconds in this teaser (the kick kind of reminded me of Ryu's forward+heavy kick unique attack but I digress) so I didn't think he had top billing....

Honestly, I have no idea who Centineo is and have never seen anything he's been in, though I am aware of the popularity of "To all the Boys..." but never have seen them due to a whole host of reasons.
Still, it's just a teaser but it seems like Koji's Ryu and Liang's Chun-Li are the focus. Andrew Koji is.. fine and Liang is an unknown in the States so to me, that's somewhat promising as I like the idea of relatively unknown actors in these campy video game adaptations.
Are any of the umpteen characters they've introduced since SF2 important enough to be included in this? Doesn't look like it from the trailer. If not, what does that tell Capcom?

El Fuerte is in there, albeit getting his ass kicked. Not sure what you're trying to say, though..? The SF2 cast is central to any plot. (Or at least, at this point after 3...)

I wasn't trying to say anything. I asked a question, primarily because I'm sure there are people here with a better grasp of the SF rosters than me, and I didn't want to assume that my impression...

I think there are plenty of newcomers who are popular enough to be in the movie, but I think that they are intentionally banking on nostalgia to sell tickets. Same reason why everything Mortal Kombat related has to have Scorpion and Sub-Zero in it, in spite of the fact that they aren't even the main protagonists of the series.
In particular, Juri, who was introduced in Street Fighter IV, is easily a top ten most popular character in the franchise, and has a reason to be in the plot because she has a grudge against M. Bison. She's just not from 2, so she's not in the movie (she could be end credit sequel bait).
Why do you think it's an SF2 movie? Have they said that somewhere? El Fuerte and other characters (according to canekicker) are included... this is why I asked my question in the first place.

I'd watch the trailer again as they're there and prominently featured. If the measure is not-SF2 (I'll throw in non-playable characters and CE as well), then you have: Cammy from SSF2 Dan Hibiki...

Cammy from SSF2
Dan Hibiki from SFA
Juli from SFA3
Akuma from SSF2
Joe from OG SF
There also looks like a El Fuerte from SF4 appearance and red gi aside, Ken looks more like how he does in SFV than what most people think of. Like I barely pay attention to Street Fighter and haven't really played anything since Third Strike but was able to recognize a bunch of these characters.
I mean, SSF2 is part of the SF2 series. I'll count Cammy and Akuma in that group. I haven't played or paid real attention to Street Fighter since around the year 2000 and I thought I recognized...

I haven't played or paid real attention to Street Fighter since around the year 2000 and I thought I recognized all the characters they focused on, which seemed rather odd to me. On second watch there are three or four highlighted that I don't know, so I guess my first impression fooled me. Also, this isn't actually the release trailer, so I suppose I should wait until then to judge.

This looks better than either of those two movies tbh
Them's fightin' words.

Any opinions on Centineo being the lead

That they are making a Street Fighter 2 movie.
