While I did not like The Last Jedi and thought her character convoluted the plot, Jesus Christ people it is a god damn movie. You really need to reassess your priorities in life if you are so upset about a movie that you resort to spewing hateful racist bullshit at an Actress that was just doing her job.
Yeah, it blows my mind how misplaced the rage is here. It's not like she did the writing or made higher level decisions about plot, direction of the franchise, etc. She auditioned, got a job, and played a role in a massive franchise to the best of her abilities.
And she did a good job of it. She played the part of "plucky true believer engineer" well, and made me enjoy a character that really didn't need to be there.
But now you have screaming idiots bombarding her with bile because they didn't like the character she played and seize upon anything that deviates from the status quo to use as ammunition
I agree. I felt she played the character well, but her part in the story was almost pointless. There's a great video by the YouTube channel Nando v Movies, where he rewrites the story with Rose as a First Order spy. Here it is if anyone is interested.
Solo would be doing a lot better in theaters if:
...am I a conspiracy theorist for believing it's like an 80:20 split on whether or not Disney's behind this now?
Occam's Razor: is it really easier to believe that there is a mass conspiracy to avoid bad press of a failing movie by manufacturing a false flag internet scandal rather than that there are just a subset of cunts on the internet who can't have fun?
They did the same thing to George Lucas and Jake Lloyd after the prequels. There are just bad people out there who take these things WAY too serious and want to spew hatred at the people they perceive are to blame.
Yeah that makes as much sense as blaming the cameraman or caterers. Blame for the mess lies at the top with Kennedy & Johnson & Disney, not people doing their jobs.
Her character was annoying and added little value to the film. What that has to do with her weight, ethnicity, gender, or literally anything else of that nature I've no idea. It doesn't fill me with confidence about the intelligence of the population when so many people apparently can't mentally divorce an actor from the characters that they play.
Seriously. Talk about misplaced anger. She didn't cast herself or write her character.
It's not a perfect comparison, but this reminds me of when people harassed the woman who played Skylar White on Breaking Bad because they hated her character. Some people let their entertainment define them so heavily that they will lash out at any perceived attack on it. There is likely a fair amount of sexism involved in both of these cases as well.
Another weird Breaking Bad fandom thing: people idolizing Walter White. He's the villain.
It seems like people focus on his clever phrases and cunning moves instead of looking at the bigger picture of how incredibly messed up he is.
How insecure must these people be to generate so much hate over something so insignificant?
It's just a movie, at worst it's 2 hours of your life, at best it's someone else's massive dollar investment.
I liked the character a lot and was on board with it. I think she's cool. Star wars used to be so beloved, I have to attribute this to the social media generation. People shouldn't be proud to act like this.
