I like the no-bullshit approach to the interface. I also like the fact the conversations don't immediately toilet-flush into meta-munching or the usual 'irrelevant joke to derail the entire thread' nonsense.

It feels 'more mature' from a reading standpoint. I find myself considerably less annoyed by the experience compared to reddit. I feel like I have to 'endure' the reddit session to be able to read what I want/need to read. Here on Tildes, I may not have access to the same range of topics, but what I do consume is considerably more palpable.

To me, Rey is a representation of everything that's wrong with the way SW Canon is shaping into and heading. They use her character to trivialize the force and the training required behind it to even begin to understand/use/master it. They basically mary-sue her and shoehorn her as the role of the heroine.

Her attitude really doesn't fit her role, let alone the role of the light-Jedi (or even Grey).

Doesn't help that they had Luke turn against the convictions that helped redeem even one of the most dark of Sith Lords, Vader. I get that Disney wanted to release itself from canon burden and are trying to make the movie have wide social appeal, but what they are losing is far greater than what they are gaining.

Mix that with poor release timing and you have a perfect storm for a box office dumb bomb.

People who are mature enough to step back from their own point of view and at least try to empathize with someone else's opinion.

People that understand that a difference in opinion is not a personal attack.

Yikes, no kidding. I suppose given the minimal room, buying a self-assemble kitchen island is out of the question?

Check amazon for the stones, you can get little packs of four 6"x6" (half inch thick) stones you can configure in the shape of your choice, so you can do flatbread style or full on round pizza if you put them side by side or square config respectively.

What's your brand of choice? If you happen by any Unibroue brand (I see it sometimes when I head out to Cali) give it a shot, it's pretty unique.

Homemade pizza (especially with a good pizza stone for the cooking bits) is amazing. Especially if you use a bit of chili/spicy infused olive oil as a finishing touch.

I enjoy getting home, setting my stuff down, pouring just a bit of port wine into glass and enjoying it for an hour or so just to unwind/disconnect.

Saying hello to the cat and dog fits in there, intermittently, too.

Very. I spent about 20 or so years working in super-large corporations, all of them 25,000 employees or larger. There's a very comfortable stability in being seated in a big corp (at least in a position that is not likely to be affected by downsizing), but a lot of big boxes like that are both slow moving and very sterile in their approach to their employees. Sure, corp-culture tries to combat it by trying to engage their employees, but all the engagement in the world falls flat if the corp isn't keeping its employees happy on a salary-to-workload approach.

They reached out to me to join them twice. I turned it down first time due to a lack of intestinal fortitude, I accepted the second time because they upped their offer and I was also very dissatisfied with Oracle at the time.

I should have joined the first time, but startups are always a iffy thing. ALWAYS sit and look at the startup before you join. Go to the office, look at the people more than listen to the line-tow by the bosses. Are the workers genuinely happy looking? Does the place look well organized? Can they clearly define their vision and expectations to you?

If so, you may be in for a damn fine adventure. I went from being 44 hours per week + weekend on call rotation to 35 hours per week and travel the world on client's dime.

Not a bad trade if you don't mind the travel.
