Maybe that's silly, I don't know. I liked the movie. I also love Event Horizon. It was amusing to me to see Sam Neill do both. He is an actor in two of my favourite movies from the 90s that I still often watch.
I remember that too. It was kind of an "event" that people talked about between episodes. And anything in fantasy territory was kind of a rarity back then, so it was a big deal.

Some more bangers are Pandorum, Europa Report (especially good if you enjoy found footage, which I 1000% do), the Cube movies (Cube, Cube 2: Hypercube, and Cube Zero), Life, and Pitch Black (I really enjoy the whole Riddick series, but after Pitch Black it turns into more of an action franchise than a horror one).

I'm going to miss Sam Neill - he was a very capable actor who did well to brilliantly in every role that I've seen him in. From the romantic interest in My Brilliant Career to the man of action in the series, Reilly, Ace of Spies, to the Russian sub officer in Hunt for Red October, to the louche artist in Sirens, to the doomed insurance investigator in In the Mouth of Madness, to the vile Major Campbell in Peaky Blinders... just a big capacity for acting that wasn't always used well by Hollywood.
I haven't watched The Piano or Hunt for the Wilderpeople yet, so those are going in the queue.

I really liked his performance in Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Reliably good acting from him, no matter the role.

I remember being so excited to see him in Merlin as a kid. It was an NBC miniseries in an era where they did a bunch of them.

I don’t watch many movies at all but I watched A Cry in the Dark last night, so this was a shock to me. I liked him in that.
