I'm all for this and excited for it, but part of me is still just thinking this is going to be another reboot of an old series that made millions. It's another "Jurassic park", "oceans" "ghost Busters" I think Hollywood needs to stop killing our childhood in hopes of making some money on old nostalgia. They can make new and original movies that do well, hell with the popularity of series and rising popularity of games with big name actors there's so much to do. Let the old names die
This isn't a reboot.
It's a continuation of Terminator 2.
Same characters. Same actors. Cameron isn't directing, but Tim Miller knows what he is doing.
The only thing I can't imagine is a very old terminator... "I am a cybornetic organism, very old and wrinkled living tissue over a metal endoskeleton."
I don't know how much creative input they all have, but I'm hoping with Hamilton, Schwarzenegger, and Cameron all on board they'll get something legitimate together.
I must be the only person who doesn’t mind when Hollywood recycles old ideas, whether that’s adaptations from other formats or revisiting old series. I just love adaptation, and even if a new version isn’t very good, it doesn’t take anything away from the original work. If anything, the bigger risk is that the new version is good enough to displace the old version in the public consciousness. And that sucks if you loved the early-90s TMNT and all anyone knows now is the modern version, but that’s going to happen to you whether the product is remade or not. I only wish that as many people knew all the lines from classic-era Simpsons the way it felt like they did 15 years ago. But what can you do? Time marches on.
Not only will Linda Hamilton reprise her role as Sarah Connor, Arnold is reported to be back, and James Cameron is producing. I'm beyond excited for this, after a personally disappointing string of Terminator movies after the amazing T1 and T2.
Are the other movies considered canon or is this some kind of partial reboot?
Arnold says they're ignoring the three other movies
Thanks to the form of time travel the Terminator movies they don't need to reboot. They create a whole new universe everytime they travel back and make changes.
Sarah Connor!
We need the movie-making crew to watch T2 before they do anything. We need to recapture T2's perfect dark tone.
This movie-making crew made T2 ;)
Wow, this is the first I'd heard of this an I'm incredibly excited. T2 is one of my favourite movies of all time. July 26, 2019 release date!
Likewise! I’m surprised I’m just hearing about it now when it’s barely a year off. Great stuff.
I think it'll be really interesting to have Linda Hamilton back in the series after such a long departure. I'm cautiously optimistic about this.
