Damn. I adore the first two movies, it's such a shame that a fantastic series is caught up in all this drama. I hope that once everything is sorted we still get an excellent third entry.

I still think Gunn should be rehired, he was going to be important not just to Guardians, but to the future of the MCU as a whole. If Disney (or more specifically, Alan Horn) is really going to...

If Disney (or more specifically, Alan Horn) is really going to keep their heads up their asses, the next best option is Taika Waititi. Him directing Gunn's script (it's done already and there are reports/rumors it will be kept) will most likely make the movie turn out more or less how it should have. But when it comes to the future of the MCU, Feige planned for Gunn to head the Cosmic properties for a reason, so I'm worried.
I don't think that's a natural conclusion to draw. The producers and the new director will make the call on if they keep/lose/alter the script regardless of the current state of the production crew.

I wonder how this will affect the MCU longterm. Disney can still cash in on GotGv3, but I would imagine it'll be hard to sustain success after that. Obviously, the wider casual audience will not...

Considering the production crew was let go, I don't think they're keeping the script.

Man I hate to be a grump but there are just too many marvel films now, shame though this one got caught I really liked the first one.
The biggest disappointment is that Awesome Mixtape Vol 3 will also be on hold as a result
