I actually liked the guy from game of thrones as aquaman, and the flash kid was spazzy enough to believe. This should be the starting point of a new generation. But they have a LONG ways to go to catch up to what marvel has done.

What’s wrong with Henry Cavil? The guy is like the perfect Superman.

Huh, it looks like it could be interesting. But I really had no desire to see the Joker's origin story and in fact kind of like not knowing.

Give me something at least as weird as Memento or Fight Club and I can be happy, but if it just goes: "Look, Joker was abused and so he's an asshole!" I will be very upset.

'the killing joke' I think is what is called the true joker origin story. very gruesome. I say read the unedited version of the comics (am I remembering wrong that there was one?) Just... it is where joker just hits a wall and goes nuts and rapes and kills. There was an adaptation of the comic done just recently but was panned by critics, it's animation but it still gets the point across. People do love that comic

TKJ wasn't bad it just wasn't good, like a 6/10.

I really don't have much bad to say about Killing Joke as it is, it's a great one-off that deserved to become canon with how much depth he gave the Joker, the effect of Barbara becoming crippled, and the dynamic between Batman and Joker.

I'm dead set against a definitive origin story. "If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"

The Joker already has a definitive origin story, though. I remember it being referenced quite a bit on the leading comics too.

It's known he was the Red Hood and that he became the Joker by falling into a vat of chemicals. What's not known is what he was before he was the Red Hood.

They did give Joker an origin story prior to the Red Hood, he was a failed comedian that put on the hood to support his pregnant wife in The Killing Joke which is considered mainstream canon

If I remember correctly, though, that falls under "unreliable narrator", i.e. the Joker himself. He has revealed conflicting origins in the past.

I remember the whole story being told in 3rd person, so it’s absolute truth. I might be wrong though, feel free to correct me!

The main theme of the killing joke is that everyone is one bad day away from becoming the Joker.

In the current canon, the Joker's origin is completely myth, as in it's literally based on a old Gotham myth (similar to slenderman sort of thing). And his association with the Red Hood gang is really questionable too.

They might make it canon again with the 3 Jokers though. The "three" are probably from older canons. Happened with Superman in this canon.

Yeah they might, but I honestly hope they don't. I prefer the mystery, and that ultimately his past doesn't matter because it's the present Joker that's harming people.

Unless they changed it, it won't really be an origin story, it's an Elseworlds story. For those not familiar with DC, it's a story set in another world, out of the main continuity (or branching from it).

It means they can pull a lot of crazy stuff and get away with it. If you want some good examples of Elseworlds stories from DC, you should read Superman: Red Son (for the love of God don't read its Wiki article) or read/watch Batman: Gotham by Gaslight.

What I expect from this movie really is a short intro explaining what their Elseworlds are and how they can differ from the DCEU. Something simple so everyone can understand the concept (which should be fairly easy) with some snippets of comics/past movies flashing on the screen, then cut to the story of this Joker.

Just imagine the possibilities in the long run. They could have some movies starring Christian Bale, Affleck and Keaton fighting a common threat together created by the universes colliding or something. You can even do that with some no-name actors to tease a concept and see if the public is interested.

If done well, Elseworlds movies can be a goldmine and have the possibility to make hardcore and casual fans happy.

    Edit: typos.
