Isn’t this going to be weird with Robert releasing his own Batman film? Who has the rights to Batman and why would they be ok with this?

They decided not to care, and I’m on board with it. Concurrent interpretations never hurt comics — much to the contrary. There are models other than the MCU.

I loved Aquaman because of the way it embraced the stupidest concepts from comics and made them look cool. If one day they manage to do Snyder's Metal series on live screen it will be bonkers.

I think with proper planning (which their movie division lacks) they can successfully create a cinematic universe combining CW, HBO max, and the movies. Introducing Ezra's Flash in CW's COIE crossover episode was a start.

They could even embrace the diversity of their comic lines. What about some independent graphic novels becoming films? Sin City and Watchmen worked pretty well. Alternate universes? Some more...

Vertigo is definitely where it's at for me when it comes to DC. It's one of my favorite publishers. Though thankfully as you hinted at, there are already a ton of adaptations based on Vertigo comics/graphic novels... with even more in the works!

            Movies:
A History of Violence. Slow burn but incredibly good, IMO.

            American Splendor. Charming.

V for Vendetta. A cult classic for a reason.

Constantine AKA Hellblazer. Keanu Reeves classic. Sequel supposedly in the works. Was a short lived TV show too.

Jonah Hex. Fucking terrible but has its charm. :P

Swamp Thing & Return. Old and cheesy AF, but classics. TV show came out last year too, but it got canned immediately, despite being pretty good and showing potential.

The Losers. Not bad. Great cast.

Tank Girl. Also old and cheesy but a cult classic.

            TV Shows:
Preacher. One of my favs. Awesome adaptation even though it diverges from the comic quite a bit.

The Sandman also one of my favs. Gaiman classic. Adaptation is in the works!

Lucifer. Lost interest after 3 seasons, but it's not bad.

iZombie. Haven't watched yet, but it's supposedly pretty decent.

Doom Patrol. Also haven't watched yet. Looks weak.

Human Target. Short lived but pretty good show.

Others Vertigo titles I would love to see adapted:
Transmetropolitan. My all-time favorite comic! By Warren Ellis. Cyberpunk dystopia with a lead character inspired by Hunter S. Thompson that would be amazing to see adapted.

Fables and it's many spin-offs. Another of my absolute favs. Carnival Row on Prime is clearly heavily inspired by it, and Wolf Among Us is a great game based on it... but I would love to see this series done properly.

Y: The Last Man. A bit of a cis, straight male fantasy trope, but it approaches the concept well enough to be interesting. An adaptation would need to be handled with great care or it would probably end up misrepresenting the source material and be pretty gross though.

DMZ. Considering the state of the US right now, this would definitely be cool to see an adaptation of. Premise = Modern US civil war + NYC becoming a demilitarized zone.

Sweet Tooth. Fucking bizarre, post-apoc, story. Would love to see someone even attempt to adapt it. Edit: HOLY SHIT... RDJ is supposedly doing an adaptation for Netflix!

Pride of Baghdad. Couldn't do "live action" obviously, since it's about a pride of lions that escapes during the Iraq War... but would love to see an animated film/series based on it.

We3. Grant Morrison classic. Also couldn't do live action since it also involves animals, but would love to see animated film for it.

The Invisibles, another Morrison classic, would also be pretty cool to see too.

Northlanders. Lots of viking shows/movies already, but I would still love to see this adapted to live action.

Shade, the Changing Man. Cartoon Network did a short for the character already, but I would love to see made into a full show.

And yes... I read A LOT of comics and watch a lot of movies/shows. :P

Audible is making Sandman in audiobook format, full cast and narration by Neil Gaiman himself. You should see it, first part was released recently - nearly 11 hours - it covers the first three...

Holy shit, that trailer and the sample audio gave me chills! Thanks for the heads up. I don't have audible, but I am really tempted to get a 30 day trial just so I can get that.

I had no idea that Human Target was a Vertigo property. Preacher is golden -- and if you liked that, you'll absolutely love Doom Patrol.
