Crazy decision. Feels like she is getting credit for crossing genres more than for the quality of the album. Giving it to her over Charli, Collier (I'm biased), or Chappell is crazy to me. Charli took over pop music for months (and appropriated the color green), Collier completed a 50+ track masterwork at 30 y.o., and Chappell became a queer icon seemingly overnight off the back of her album.

Charli won Best Dance Pop Recording for 'Von Dutch', and Best Dance/Electronic Album. Collier won Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, alongside John Legend & Tori Kelly, for 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. Chappell won Best New Artist. So it's not like any of them walked away empty handed.

I do agree about Beyonce clearly getting way more credit for crossing genres than the quality of the album though. However, I personally think Billie Eilish should have won album of the year... but I am super biased as a huge Eilish fan. ;)

It cost me over £800 for two Eilish tickets for the O2 in Glasgow later this year. And I don't even like her that much [but I've heard a lot worse, so it will be a good experience live], but my soon-to-be 18yo will be incandescent with joy when I announce this birthday present in a couple of months so it will be worth it!

I actually think her live performances is where she truly shines, which is why I post so many of them. https://tildes.net/?tag=billie_eilish then CTRL-F "live" :P

Yeah I think Eillish should have at least won pop vocal album over Short N Sweet. Though I didn’t really care for Birds of a Feather I think Chihiro deserved the Record/Song nominations.

I like Birds of a Feather, but it's probably my least favorite song on the album. Wildflower being my actual fav with L'Amour de Ma Vie a close second.

You act as if the Grammys have made any meaningful decisions in the last 30 years and it isn't all based on greed. In addition I've always been a Charli XCX fan but "brat" has got to be her worst album yet, it's way too avant garde for the general population and there's only like 2 tracks that are fun to dance to.

No offense but this can’t be true considering it’s her mainstream breakthrough

I've only listened to Charli and brat, but I would say that brat is very in line with what she did on Charli. I think the only major difference is that the subject matter of the songs have more mainstream appeal on brat. "Girl, So Confusing" and "I Think About it All the Time" are very straight forward tracks that tackle relatable struggles that the average person deals with. And then "Von Dutch", "Mean Girls", and "365", are obviously all party tracks, they are very drunk girl coded.

To stay more positive, or at least foster some conversation, was there anything about the album that resonated with people
