Kanye was my artist of the decade, which made me really stop and appreciate the impact of his discography over the past 10 years. Serious culture shifting gravity from that dude.
Artist of the year was The Japanese House and if you haven't heard of her before, then oh brother, allow me to introduce you to this ear candy:
Some stats from mine: Vulfpeck was my artist of the year and the decade. I listened to them for 31 hours this year and for 23,234 minutes since 2016. They have been my #1 artist each year since...

Other artists included, Cory Wong, TWRP, Kishi Bashi, and Tally Hall for this year.
Top Genres: Jam Band, Comic, Rock, Indie Pop, Funk
I listened to 579 new artists this year. But Mort Garson was my #1 with his Plantasia album (its so weird and good).
My top podcast was the Buddhist Society of Western Australia who I listened to for 40 hours in Spotify this year. Though it was likely closer to 80-100 when you combine all my podcast apps.

I moderated the main music subreddits for 5-6 years. Sharing music used to be my biggest hobby, but I’ve gotten into other interests now. I can name more if you want though.

22k minutes this year down from 71k in 2015. Oh college I do not miss you but I guess I miss listening to as much music.
Apparently my #1 artist in 2011 was Matt and Kim???? and my #1 song from 2013 was Get Lucky?!
Artist of the decade is Modest Mouse. Fair. I do like a good bit of Modest Mouse.
Song of the decade Suburban Home by Descendants. Also fair. I have probably listened to that song 1000 times for 1500 minutes.

Ooh, one of my favorite times of the year
Slough Feg at #1 this year, listening for 23h.
Skinny Puppy came in at #2, Front Line Assembly #3, Manilla road #4. Smashing Pumpkins #5 All not surprising
Genres: Rock, Industrial Rock (I'd just call it Industrial), Doom Metal, Viking Metal
#1 Song is Steel & Silver by Visigoth
I listened to 252 new albums
I listened for 35k minutes this year. Last year it was 49k, my max was 55k in 2015
Top Artists of the decade: 2014: Skinny Puppy 2015-2017: Slough Feg 2018: Manilla Road 2019: Slough Feg

It also says I discovered 671 artists this year, which seems like too many, and really vibed with M83, which is weird, because I have been listening to M83 for years at this point, so not really sure what that meant.
My artist of the decade was Kanye🌊🌊🌊
I'm a little surprised that Tyler, The Creator or Anderson .Paak didn't show up like at all. I listened to a crazy amount of IGOR and Flower Boy this year, and .Paak is who I would call my favorite artist. My personal rating not based off of statistics would be: .Paak, CRJ, Kanye, Kung Fu Kenny, and Tyler.
This year saw a bit of a shift towards pop, from my usual electronica and hip-hop/rap music tastes. I think overall the electronica scene has gotten kind of boring, at least for me, it seems like a lot of the more popular things in the genre are bad or cringey, like marshmello and a some of the more recent monstercat releases, and I just don't have the time to search for the more interesting things anymore. Madeon's album Good Faith is definitely in my top 10 albums of the year though.
It's also interesting how visible the mood changes in my music tastes are from Winter (Sadboi/Tame Impala), Spring (CRJ madness), Summer (Busted from Phineas and Ferb), and Fall (Clarence Clarity).
Doing a Wikipedia search for "catstep" redirects to Monstercat. Looks like mostly EDM. The only artist mentioned I've heard of is Infected Mushroom. They apparently also released the soundtracks...

Future Funk
Now this one intrigues me. Can you link us some cool future funk tracks?
I assume most of that is from Yung Bae's album Bae 5. My favorite song is probably Up All Night, it is a real slapper. Not sure what other future funk songs I listened to this year. I guess that...

I guess that makes sense, my study/work music for the most part is my EDM playlist, but I would say at most 1/3 of the music is from a Monstercat artist. I would assume one of the more broad EDM genres would be my top genre.

#1 Artist was Tiny Meat Gang, which made my top genre of the year meme rap, haha.
I spent 1555 minutes listening to podcasts (almost exclusively The Adventure Zone)
My artist of the decade is A Silent Film
I'd never gotten a chance to see these stats before when I used to listen to spotify so this was really fun to see. It's a shame I didn't start listening earlier this year because now 2019's representation is heavily skewed and really, just per chance. I am an unfortunate person as I enjoy playing the same song on repeat for an hour if I like it a lot which is the only reason it skewed so hard towards TMG but that's okay.
Cool! My top 5 is: 1. Sufjan Stevens, 2. The World Is a Beautiful Place, 3. The Front Bottoms, 4. Cursive and 5. Sorority Noise. There's also this which is pretty funny. Yeah. I definitely don't...

Artist of the decade for me Dead can Dance. Artist of the year Ulver - but I wonder why, I don't recall listening a lot this year. My favourite album from them is not even on Spotify. Top genres:...

Top genres: pagan black metal, medieval folk, dark jazz, metal and compositional ambient, which I'd say is pretty spot on.
To be honest, I'm not really sure which of my listens are classified by Spotify as dark jazz, as I realize I haven't really listened to a lot of the classic names under this tag. Maybe 15 songs...
To be honest, I'm not really sure which of my listens are classified by Spotify as dark jazz, as I realize I haven't really listened to a lot of the classic names under this tag. Maybe 15 songs together from the top names of the genre, like Dale Cooper Quartet, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Killimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and Kammerflimmer Kollektief.
Some of the bands I would classify under "dark ethereal" could be also seen as dark jazz, so maybe Ulver qualifies with "Shadows of the Sun" album. I also listened to some things which I consider regular contemporary Jazz that maybe fits, like Nils Petter Molvaer.
So if I would be to chose one, I would go with "Eos" from "Shadows of the Sun". Or you can try Nils Petter Molvaer's "Solid Ether"
Now that I was looking through the bands under this tag on last.fm I see Morphine is there, which I don't agree with to be honest, but I did listen to a couple of albums recently, which might have squeued the data.
Cool feature. I wonder if someone has made a version of this that can plug into other streaming services... Or, I guess I could just look at my last.fm profile

‘Something has to change’ by The Japanese House is also great.
I also really like Lilo by her.

Are you up on Neal Francis yet?
I haven't heard about them before but I am listening now. Thank you! I can tell this fits perfectly with my taste in music.
You’re welcome. Can I assume you listen to Circles Around the Sun? RIP Neal Casal. One of my favorite musicians.
I haven't heard of them either! Two solid recommendations when Spotify struggles to give me one. Kudos man!
I moderated the main music subreddits for 5-6 years. Sharing music used to be my biggest hobby, but I’ve gotten into other interests now. I can name more if you want though.
Plantasia is fantastic. Do you know anything else like it?

It was Aesop Rock. I had just gotten into him late last year, I think, and it turns out I listened to him a lot.
Emancipator was my artist of the decade. Happy about that outcome!

I link last.fm to Spotify and Plex so I can track these stats all the time.
Last.fm also has a yearly summary, but the year has to end, I can only access up to my 2018 one.
Pusha and Neck Deep. Noice!
and chilling. 24/7.
