Tildes is a very serious site, where we discuss very serious matters like boeing, urban planning and insurance.auto. Tags culled from the highest voted topics from the last seven days, if anyone was mycket förvirrad.

But one of my favourite tags happens to be offbeat! Taking its original inspiration from Sir Nils Olav III, this thread is looking for any far-fetched offbeat stories lurking in the newspapers. It may not deserve its own post, but it deserves a wider audience!

    French study suggests one in five young people can't recognise a zucchini

    According to a new study, one in five young people (aged 15 to 24) are unable to identify a zucchini in a photo, with 18% seeing it as a cucumber and 2% as an aubergine. The report also suggests a significant number of young people have difficulty maintaining a healthy, balanced diet.

    Following these results, Minister Delegate Olivia Grégoire has said that the government has a desire to promote more solid food education, stating that food education is both “a major public health issue” and “an issue of purchasing power”.

      I'm not sure that an inability to distinguish one bumpy long (usually green) vegetable from another is evidence of their overall diets? I thought the top photo was comparing "courgettes" to...

      I'm not sure that an inability to distinguish one bumpy long (usually green) vegetable from another is evidence of their overall diets? I thought the top photo was comparing "courgettes" to cucumbers for a moment myself.

      And if the blood orange vs grapefruit was a picture of the outside I might screw that up too. I don't eat the latter and rarely buy the former over a regular orange or clementine/satsuma/mandarin.

      Just ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ at this one for me.
