CSPAN - Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Introduces Articles of Impeachment against Justices Thomas and Alito (13m 37s)

Unfortunate that it took this long. Unfortunate that this will probably go nowhere, though I'm sure it's going to eat up some new cycles.
While the questions being asked by AOC are 100% legitimate, the deeply cynical part of me wonders if the precise timing of this is an attempt to distract the new cycles off of hand-wringing about Biden's election campaign.
That was an excellent speech.
I don't have time to watch the whole speech now, but does she give a reason why it's Thomas and Alito? Seems like an odd choice.
Generally she is pointing to the repeat occasions they should have recused themselves from due to a conflict of interest, mostly due to associating with billionaires who have given them lavish gifts.
Found the full transcript if you'd rather read than watch : https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/media/press-releases/transcript-rep-aoc-delivers-major-floor-speech-articles-impeachment-against
The short answer: failure to recuse, and failure to report financial/other gifts.
My impulse is to think it will not work. Any reason to think it will succeed? Please? :-)
If the Dems had control of the house and Senate it would probably pick up steam. Yet another reason to vote.
Short of at least a few Republican's in the House growing a conscious, this won't be going anywhere. It will, at least maybe, draw a little extra attention to the court and its moral turpitudes.
Far Right Extremists call for violence and war after Trump shooting
I know these are the extremists, it's still distressing and frightening to not know where things will land.
Which Democrats are calling for Biden to stop running for president
I haven't been this angry since the October 7th war.
I have the belief that changing candidates will sink the democrats. Yet a lot of prominent people are pressuring Biden to drop out of the race. It doesn't help news orgs biased against Biden are also encouragin him to drop out. I'm not sure who is right and who I should be pissed at.
Keeping him might be worse.
Biden introduced Zelinsky as Putin
Why do you believe that a change would sink the democrats?
At this point we are voting between two administrations. One that's been okay vs. one that will be 3-5k fresh yesmen that will kowtow to a dictator.
Honestly the president themselves is only one reason to vote in the presidential election, among hundreds. Cabinet matters.
Historian Explains Why Dropping Biden Won’t Help Democrats
This historian pops up ever presidential election. He came up with a checklist that has predicted 9 out of the last 10 presidential elections. According to this ~7 minute video replacing Biden will actually hurt the chances of Democrats winning the election.
Via the historian's checklist, if Democrats can handle possible new military conflicts well they will have enough of his checklist items to win. Democrats have that many other checklist items nailed down so far.
My own opinion is that replacing Biden will help Trump win
These are good points only if the democrats did not make a mistake. If they did make one, then choosing not to fix the mistake for fear of admitting the mistake will only cause bigger issues down the line.
Long term though, the optics of keeping Biden in opens up inquiry about how much his staff and the party knew about Biden's ability to do the job if it shakes out that he did have an underlying issue that has been getting progressively worse. That's an albatross that could hang around for a while.
