Offbeat Fridays – The thread where offbeat headlines become front page news
Tildes is a very serious site, where we discuss very serious matters like psychology, france and bitcoin mining. Tags culled from the highest voted topics from the last seven days, if anyone was observant.
But one of my favourite tags happens to be offbeat! Taking its original inspiration from Sir Nils Olav III, this thread is looking for any far-fetched offbeat
stories lurking in the newspapers. It may not deserve its own post, but it deserves a wider audience!
Cyclist fined for kissing wife during Tour de France
BBC News – Michael Sheils McNamee – 6th July 2024
Man, he worked hard for the extra time, let him do what he wants with his extra time.
TGIF, gentlemen, it has been an honor Tildes`ing with you. My end is near but fear not for I go gently into the beer hall.
I wonder how much longer George Burns would have lived.
According to the article, that's only if you're drinking them every day. An average of 2 drinks per week over a lifetime only takes off 3-6 days. Honestly that's not a bad trade-off in my opinion.
Honestly, if I have one drink, I'll have 2 and if I have 2 then I'll have... Question, if I drink all 7 in one day then what? Am in trouble.
If you drink all 7 in one day and then don't drink again for the rest of the month I think you're okay? But that's not far off from what I do, so I'm not going to check.
Man skydived from plane hours before deadly crash in Western NC
TBH, I've skydived from one of those awful one-lawnmower engine planes. It was a far happier experience being out and falling, than inside that rattling deathtrap.
San Francisco nudists fight and deter man who attacked tourist
There's a lot of funny in that article but there's also some crazy sadness - how come an entire neighborhood can be held hostage by one crazy guy like that
