The key is that the Pacific Ocean is like half the width of the world.

We all know the world is top-heavy when it comes to where people live. But a lot of us forget just how much space the Pacific Ocean takes up! Now that I think about it... instead of an "eastern" and "western" hemisphere, we could talk about a "land" and "water" hemisphere.

We've got room to move and space to spread out! :)

I will be commuting to work at that time. I will do my best to enjoy the sun along with everyone else.

Okay... that was truly fascinating. Of course, I had to go to my own physical world globe to check that Pacific-centric view for myself - and it's valid. That's quietly amazing.

I'm not quite as strict about tags as some people. I'll add tags that I think are useful, and I'll replace tags that could be improved, but I usually won't bother deleting tags just for the sake of it. If a poster thinks their topic should be tagged as "interesting", I have no interest in deleting that tag. ;) Maybe they're starting a trend!

But wait until other tag-editors see your post, and see if "interesting" survives the process...

        P.S. I see "interesting" didn't survive... :)

I didn't think this was possible but the image of the earth being almost entirely ocean on one side was eye opening and interesting

Websites with paywalled articles sometimes allow subscribers to share an article with a special link so that others can read without the paywall.

According to the popup from the gift button on the regular link, subscribers can gift ten articles a month.

I see it frequently with lwn.net articles and they’ve stated before that people sharing those links is a good source of new subscribers.
