(not the author of the article—they linked to some twitter post claiming to generate 150k blog posts using AI, and you know for sure they are all literally a waste of electricity)

feel free to mark this as off-topic/noise but your link is screwed up, it points to this same thread. you probably want something like [Caves of Qud Wiki](https://wiki.cavesofqud.com).

Infra is a puzzle/adventure/walking sim that i absolutely never hear be mentioned. it was made by a small finnish dev a few years ago, entirely on the Source engine, and you’re a civil engineer on a field inspection of sorts, but then you end up going deeper and deeper into the underlying infrastructure of the city and you end up unravelling a very cool story.

the main draw for me is the ambience, there’s just no game quite like it, the level design is amazing because it really feels like you’re going through the least-explored places in a city, and i guess it really tickles my the part of my inner self that yearns for urban exploration :) also you get to take pictures of everything!~

i really recommend it to everyone who likes exploration and a good sense of place in games. it’s a really impressive game for such a small team. if i have anything bad to say, is that the voice acting can be a little hit-or-miss, but it doesn’t detract from the experience, at least for me.

interesting that ovens there use methane, i’ve never heard of that. over here it’s all liquefied petroleum gas, which is a mixture of propane and butane mostly

Obviously a truly clean methane burn is odorless, but few home stoves combust the methane perfectly.

mastodon could copy a page off bluesky's book and implement user-created algorithmic feeds, which are very cool! like you have a list of feeds and you can choose one or more to subscribe to, and you can browse them at your pleasure, but the feeds themselves are programmed by users using a surprisingly powerful API

in my opinion, this is the dumbest thing Musk has enacted so far. the vast majority of users are both unverified and mostly-lurkers, so he’s removing basically the one reason they used twitter for? it's genuinely bewildering lol. i bet it’s because he doesn’t want to pay server costs, rather than “extreme levels of data scraping”, too.

the company's probably broke. if this continues for much longer I can't imagine Twitter lasting for long.

to be clear, the numbers in the document do not include marketing costs. you can probably add a cool $100 million to that number to get the dev+mkt costs but that’s just my guess

I'm assuming a large proportion of 'development costs' would include marketing costs, which are usually pretty obscene.

i haven’t seen anyone mention BlueSky yet—but really, that probably tracks with the userbase of Tildes. it’s basically just Twitter without Elon and that’s why i like it. it could use with a little less “twitter” because sometimes there’s the usual twitter braindead argument-ness, but with how few people there are there yet, probably mainly due to the severe lack of supply in invites, it’s not so bad. it seems to have some interesting ideas around moderation and stuff and it’s a lot easier to join compared to something like Mastodon even though it’s a federated thing. i think it could have potential if it made the site public like Tildes. but keep it invite only for now since it’s still in beta and can have some bugs.

i still use reddit and twitter, and obviously i use tildes too, and i believe this new crop of social media platforms are a lot better than what came before but they just haven’t hit that critical mass yet.
