What do you think the NY Jets should do now?

I am super bummed about Aaron Rodgers' injury. I was rooting for him individually, but also it is sad for the Jets and the league as a whole. Do you have any suggestions for what the Jets should do now? Just stay the course with Zach Wilson? Make a trade? Take someone off their couch?

For real, I'd like to see Zach Wilson be given another shot. Rodgers isn't dead -- he can still mentor the kid. Wilson has the talent. He just needs a legend like Rodgers to humble and mentor him.

They should have jumped all over Lamar Jackson but the Panthers just scooped him up. Edit: Ignore me. I'm an idiot that relies too much on Google search results.

You had me confused for a second. Panthers signed CB Jackson to the practice squad. QB Jackson is still on Baltimore.

Ha my bad! I just googled the top free agent QBs currently available and that was the top article. Didn't even see that it was a CB with the same name lol.

I was listening to a sport show on the way home discussing this very problem. Some of the names I heard thrown around:

      • Marcus Mariota
      • Carson Wentz
      • Colt McCoy
      • Joe Flacco

Honestly, if I had to choose? I'd be calling up the Falcons and asking about Tyler Heinicke. I think he would be the best balanced option as a vet and someone who has proven he can play in a high stakes environment when Wilson inevitably flat-lines (again).

Cousins, Tannehill, and Murray are the starters that could probably be traded for. I could see the Vikings and Cardinals tanking this year for a shot at Caleb Williams as well.

I don't see Kirk being traded this year, even if the likelihood of him getting a contract extension in MN is not high. Nor do I think the Vikes will tank, intentionally or not. And as for a tank-for-Williams strategy in general (looking at you, Cardinals), this recent quote from his father is of note:

His father, Carl, puts a finer point on it. “The funky thing about the NFL draft process is, he’d almost be better off not being drafted than being drafted first. The system is completely backwards,” he says. “The way the system is constructed, you go to the worst possible situation. The worst possible team, the worst organization in the league—because of their desire for parity—gets the first pick. So it’s the gift and the curse. I mean, I’ve talked to Archie Manning—his career was shot because he went to a horrible organization. I’ve talked to Lincoln [Riley], and Kyler [Murray] struggled because of where he was drafted. Baker [Mayfield] struggled mightily because of where he was drafted. The organizations matter.” And there’s a break-in-case-of-emergency option that Carl is keeping in mind. “He’s got two shots at the apple,” he says. “So if there’s not a good situation, the truth is, he can come back to school.”

Yeah, I think Caleb to the Vikings makes more sense than the Cards. Vikings are a good organization that can't seem to land on a QB. Caleb is probably making $2-5 million at USC, but in all honesty, I don't think the Cards fix themselves next draft, so he would be drafted by them anyway unless a team absolutely tanks for him this year.

After last night's game, I really hope the Vikes can get him.

That being said, what I really hope is that they draft a cardboard cutout of Dan Marino because I want my 'phins to take the AFC East.
