Bit of a procession, eh? I found myself disheartened by Alonso's lack of pace. I was rooting for some of Papa Stroll's bluster to be backed up on the track so I could at least see the return of Alo5so throughout the season if not better. I guess he's been my guy since Vettel stepped off of the stage.
McLaren look like they have some good potential to continue their trajectory.
Was happy to see Sainz do well.
Appreciated Brundle's comments about the V6 engines and era writ large.
Hamilton was a bit nowhere throughout. Russel continues to show good pace but a rather bit of propensity towards errors.
Happy to see F1 back. Remind me why I watch? Lol.
Russell was fighting an overheating engine throughout the race, while Hamilton had battery issues.
Alonso in P9 breaks my heart :(
I was so bored by this race that I read this article by the lady that runs McMansion Hell instead. Fascinating stuff, much more interesting than the Max Verstappen show.
What I found much more interesting was how Sainz kept on his pace. I think had Leclerc not had the issues with his brakes, he'd have kept the P2.
This race was a bit boring wasn't it?
I think F1 is going to start losing a lot of the US "Netflix" fans they gained in the last few years if Red Bull dominates again this year. There has to be some back room pressure about that.
Also, this is shallow, but the cars have incredibly boring liveries now, like most of them are 70% unpainted black carbon fiber. It looks terrible. Ferrari still looks pretty good and maybe has the most paint but the bottom third is black. Maybe there will have to be a rule against unpainted car parts next season.
The announcers spent an obscene amount of time talking about this during preseason testing. I wasn't paying full attention to the discussion, but I heard at least a couple times that they should mandate minimum amounts of color on the cars. I don't agree that it should be a requirement, but I do agree that the cars are pretty boring.
I was laying in bed watching this race on my laptop. I think around lap 40 I started nodding off... around lap 50 I start waking up again and the race was in the exact same situation. Really hoping for better over the next few races. If Bahrain is like this.. I can't imagine how bad Miami will be
Looks like Red Bull isn't suffering one bit for switching from Renault to Honda engines.
It'll be interesting in 2026 when RBR stops using Honda engines and uses their own RBPT/Ford stuff. Will that be the end of RBR's domination? I know Honda is going to Aston Martin, but imagine it'll take at least a season until AM and Honda really well together. If they do at all; it could be McLaren-Honda all over again.
its always nice to see a little back and forth from Sharl and Carl.
I run a pool and these were my picks. Not too bad -- I came in second this week.
