This was an entertaining race and I've enjoyed the 2nd half of this season. It's much more interesting when we aren't sure who will win a race. I'm sure Verstappen will still win the championship, but at least he isn't just parked in first place every race like last year.

The situation with Perez is curious. He is probably the most disappointing driver of the year, other than the two that got fired before the year is up. The only explanation for his continued contract is that he has a lot of fans and is bringing in money through sponsorships and selling merch. It has to be embarrassing for him that Russell beat him today after starting the race from the pit.

Sharl swooping past Lando and Max was dope... and him holding on to that the entire time was solid gold. I couldn't be happier.

The last half of this season is some of the best.

Excellent weekend for motorsport. MotoGP was also great with an insane crash during the Sprint. Its amazing that these guys just get up and race the next day.

I kind of hope they pause the new stuff and keep this relatively well-balanced grid going.

Leclerc had the car to win, but he didn't half make the most of it in that first corner, beautiful move! Honestly, when Leclerc is having a good weekend (and I get the impression he's having more and more, he's in a really nice bit of form atm), Sainz just can't touch him. I think Sainz managed to get lucky and scrap with him in the sprint, but he never looked like threatening Leclerc in the race, although the team managed to perform a nice undercut to get him past Verstappen.

I just can't see Norris outracing Verstappen now. I saw a thread on Reddit (I think it was) where someone described Verstappen as "almost disturbingly pragmatic", and I couldn't agree more. Sure, it's not "nice" racing, it's perhaps not even "sporting" by some people's definitions, but it does seem to be within the rules. He doesn't give a damn about the rest and that's a real strength. I don't think Norris is canny enough to overcome that. I also think that Norris could just park it where he's legally allowed to be and get into a proper tangle with Verstappen, maybe a few times. Because right now, Verstappen has his number. If Norris shows that he's willing to tangle and lose them both the championship, maybe allowing Leclerc to gobble up the points gap, perhaps then Verstappen will start to realise that he also has something to risk.

Norris is in a highly unenviable position, though, that's very clear. My feeling is that Verstappen is about 70% sure to win the WDC this year, Norris only has an outside chance at this point.

      Edit: grammar
