That turned into quite a race! Multiple SC/VSCs, which switched things up.
Of course, the big news here is...HADJAR P3! He's having an excellent rookie season. Kept it clean and stayed out of trouble. Much deserved first F1 podium.
Though that wouldn't have happened had Lando's car not shat the bed at Lap 65. Totally unexpected. Which definitely swings the pendulum into Oscar's advantage. That puts Oscar more than a race win ahead of Lando. Like I keep saying, that door for Lando to get a WDC continues to slowly close, if it hasn't already.
Terrible day for Ferrari. Hamilton hits the barriers by himself at Lap 32. Then 20 laps later, Kimi sends it in to Charles. Think Charles had the right idea to just sit and chill out at the top of that dune for the rest of the race. Had there been enough laps, I'm sure Lando would've joined him =/
Lastly, decent day for Bearman. Pitlane start to P6. ObamaNotBad.jpg.
It's funny to comment that I was thinking about reliability while the McLarens were chasing each other towards the end. I had a feeling that Oscar was going to have an engine issue. Lo and behold it was just the other papaya. It's been a reliable few years at this point in the engine formula. I miss the halcyon days of yore 2014 when we got to see spectacular Renault PU failures on the regular.
That being said, hate to see it being such a high percentage of the points gap between the two championship contenders!
Slow burn race I guess. Was hoping for a little more rain action.
Fun to see the dunes shots of both Charles and Lando. Been awhile since we got to see ol Alonso in a deck chair as the Brits call it.
Mixed feelings on this being the penultimate Dutch GP. 2020 and 2021 were interesting seasons as they scrambled to find tracks in that early COVID recovery era.
Portimao, Imola, Turkey, the Austrian/Styrian double header - these were all pretty fun to see.
In my mind, the Dutch GP Is mixed in with these. I enjoy the atmosphere, the track, and the visuals of this GP. The fans clearly still enjoy this race. So it's just a shame to see it fall off the calendar.
All that said I reallllly want to see Portimao back on the calendar. Without looking up details as to why, I loved that track in F1.
Yeah I was watching FP1 and FP2 yesterday (slept through FP3 this morning) and saw all the spin outs and crashes. I might be remembering wrong, but it seems like that's pretty typical in Zandvoort due to the winds around the area. And I love that. It's a wrinkle that this track has that drivers have to contend with.
Obviously other tracks have their own unique quirks and such. But I feel like the city street circuits that tend to replace these actual tracks tend to lack some of that. I'm not fully against street circuits, but I also don't want to see F1 only race at these.
Welcome back from the break--Again! Hope you all enjoyed your three weeks away from Formula 1. Got to sleep-in or go to sleep on time.
Woot Oscar starts P1! Though given how close him and Lando were, basically felt like a toss-up. With Max in P3, however, I'm ready to see who he can hunt down. Or rather, if he can at all, given how far ahead McLaren is.
welp, I didnt do too bad this week. I'm waiting for DHL to post the pits, but right now I am in a four-way tie for first (for the week) with six points

That's the "Grand Chalam," right?
How funny that RB has become radioactive in some sense. That right now, it's better to be on the junior team, or literally anywhere else, than to be "promoted" to the senior team. Sheesh.
its so sad about Red Bull. Its amazing how a team can go from domination to being relatively shitty in such a short window.
If Yuki has until Mexico to prove himself, I think he'll be out and get signed as a reserve for Aston Martin. Its sad because he always did his part and usually outperformed his teammates --- and its all for nothing.
I know with AM the chance of him becoming a permanent driver is less than with other teams. Lance's dad bankrolls the team (I think? I thought he sold off a big chunk of the team?) and Alonso ain't ever gonna for real retire. At least not anytime soon it seems.
But other former RB drivers seemed to have done alright. DR, Gasly, Albon, and even Checo got additional opportunities within F1. They might've had to take a break and a backseat, but they eventually got picked up by other teams. I'm sure other teams know that it's mainly the car that's the problem, and not primarily the drivers. So I could see the same happening for Yuki.
Though obviously Yuki will be up against current rookies and newcomers. So we'll see.
Yuki pretty much goes with Honda -- but yeah, no room at AM. He'll go reserve, replacing either Drugovich or Vandoorne. What I would love is for him to take up his old seat and have Hadjar go up to the shitbox.
All of this is Danny's fault, really. If he just stayed in the car, he'd probably still be racing today.
The best situation would be Yuki to AM, Lance retires and pursues his true passion, snowboarding. Everybody wins
I can't tell if you're trolling or not, lol. But for sure, if Lance would retire, that's one more open seat for Yuki or some other rookie. I'm not saying he doesn't belong in Formula 1, but it often seems like he doesn't care to be there.
100% serious. I think he's a pro-level snowboarder. I feel for Lance. He walks the paddock and barely gets stopped. A few months ago he was in the background walking around (Charlie Brown style) hoping that Ted Kravitz would stop for a chat... but Ted didn't even notice him.
I wouldn't be surprised if he stepped aside for either next year or the year after -- especially if they have a good car. All I want for Lance is for him to be happy :)
