I'm finally being offered a full-time job after 3+ years of burnout and occasional freelancing! It's a job for a realty company where I design their social media imagery and youtube thumbnails. For anyone looking day after day for a job, specifically looking on something like ziprecruiter, those sites are infested with nothing-jobs. Spam. Fake advertising. You ofc can still apply if you want, but I'm no longer wasting my time on sites like those until they clean them up and have a better method of validating actual job seekers vs the ones trying to impress their stockholders or collect and hoarde resumes/info.

I just joined a more niche website for jobs and got 2 offers (I had to know what specific kind of job I wanted to find such a site), and it's only been a week. My first offer came within 2 days, but unfortunately there was a miscommunication where the offerer didn't give all their contact info properly and hasn't checked back to see that I asked for clarification, but this second offer is going well so far. Fingers crossed!

I'm back home from college for spring break. I've come to realize that nothing tells me that I'm home quite like when I finally taste the tap water and don't think it tastes weird.

Dug my sand rail out of storage for the first time in 5 years. Going to see if I can find someone to rebuild the engine at a reasonable price. Its a 70's air cooled VW 1776cc engine with dual Weber 44 carbs, and when its running right its the fastest 4 wheeled rocket Ive ever driven cause it only weighs about 900 lbs. Good times ahead!

Been renovating our retirement home. Bathrooms are pretty much finished and we've been concentrating on the kitchen, living room and studio now. Spent 2 days taping, mudding, sanding walls and pulling staples out of the floor. Who staples down carpet? Anyhow, we have 5 more weeks to make it livable/kitty safe. Excited to be close to the finish line.

Spent the weekend replacing electrical outlets and light switches. Ended Saturday on a high note with some good success. Today I'm pretty discouraged.

The summary of it is that I think I need to hire an electrician to, at the very least, confirm the safety of my wiring. Which I'm a bit sad about but I also would prefer to not die or have the house burn down.

Details: for whatever reason the neutral wires in one of the three-way switch boxes still have power when the circuit for the switch is off. I've looked online a bit and seen that this is sometimes done but probably only in homes much older than mine. The power in the neutral was enough to power the circuit partially when it was connected to the smart switch (which requires a neutral in addition to the typical load, traveller for three-way, etc). Thinking of how it would handle power if the main circuit breaker was flipped on at the same time scared me a bit. So I decided not to risk it and just put it back the way I found it for now.

It was super obvious that the gaming industry has been doing budget cuts, it's definitely one of the smaller PAX's I've been to :/ But I still enjoyed seeing the developers I know, talking to the Extra Life rep, and trying and impulse buying a couple of new games!
