I have about ten little tasks to do at work that came to mind first. At my job we handle very, very difficult subject matter on a daily basis, and add to that the pressures of deadlines and project requirements. We do our best to balance work and self-care, but it's difficult in our field.
So I'm going to say I want to accomplish those tasks that need doing at my job, and to do them well. But also, laundry.
That's always the key for me. I try and have my big target for the day (60%-70% of my effort) and then a handful of 'I need a moment' tasks to help stop me from going down rabbit holes. Ultimately...
That's always the key for me. I try and have my big target for the day (60%-70% of my effort) and then a handful of 'I need a moment' tasks to help stop me from going down rabbit holes. Ultimately the de-focus of a larger complicated task gives your brain a chance to process it and when I come back to it I'm usually clearer on the procedure and get it done! There's a book called the 'Eureka Factor' that helped me discover some little tricks to getting past sticky spots!
I just read the description of the book you recommended, and one of the reviews on Amazon describes it as being the neuroscience of creativity. That sounds directly up my alley, I might have to...

I'd like to get used to wearing the wrist braces I now have to wear for my recently diagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm sure that will be fun. I'm also job hunting which is even less fun.

Oh god have fun. My clan and I ended up taking over a server and had building teams, scouting teams, security teams, raid teams, special forces, and even upper management! Tons of fun lmao

Fell into a bit of a depressive cycle recently so focusing the energy on getting back on track with everything. Trying to be kind to myself in during the process; that can be tough!

get back in to running. I was doing good before my exams but during and after them I really haven't been able to run due to exhaustion, being busy and being sick. I've missed it so much.

I pulled my groin last week doing something dumb. I was doing 10 mile runs comfy and then I tried to jump over a small fence. wtf is wrong with me? I'm just doubling down on cycling until I heal....

I'm just doubling down on cycling until I heal. the cycling motion doesn't hurt, thankfully.

Hey, I just got back in last week. Going really light (I used to run in high school but fell off since college) and it's been tough. My pain tolerance is not as good as it used to be, but I'm eager on working on getting to the best shape of my life. Motivation is thinking about how far back I've regressed and how I don't want to stay here.
I have do a a whole bunch extra tasks this week at work while cutting back on staff cost all the while preparing a birthday party for my daughter on sunday. This week is packed.

In the meantime I am working on finishing freeCodeCamps "Responsive Web Design Certification" curriculum.
I'm getting to the halfway point but I honestly don't know what I will do with this knowledge once I am finished.
I'm playing with an old Ipad 3 to determine if I can eventually move away from my Win 8.1 tablet which I really have enjoyed, to something with more of a future, an Ipad Pro.

What industry are you in? Maybe someone here can help you out. :)
Hey, lived in Edinburgh for 4 years and am now in the Netherlands. PM me if you want to chat about it at all. I’m sure you’ll do absolutely fine!
Maybe this can help you friend: https://www.reddit.com/r/Kotlin/comments/8ouj1y/hiring_london_uk_flux_is_looking_for_a_developer/
I send you warm and fuzzy job hunting vibes! I hope you find something spectacular :)
Best of luck. Despite some offers I ultimately didn't accept one for this summer and wish better for you!

Do you get to prioritize your tasks or are they dependent on being done in a specific order already?
There are some tasks that I need to complete sequentially, but also some things I can put on the back burner or pick up to break up the day a bit.

I take it the moped hire in Macedonia didn't work out so well then?
The bloody twins showed up and pushed me out of the business.
Finally starting to learn Rust
Rust is a ton of fun. You're in for a treat.

The language or the game?
...I completely forgot there was a game as well.
Suddenly the other replies make more sense lol
I play the game but my initial thought was that you meant the language. Of course, others, not so much, haha.
Hey same here! Been meaning to get my hands on a low level language for a while now and Rust seems like the reasonable choice these days.

How is your progress going?
Fell into a bit of a depressive cycle recently so focusing the energy on getting back on track with everything. Trying to be kind to myself in during the process; that can be tough!
I am right there, too. A crushing load of exams does wonders to simultaneously soothe and also aggravate the problem in my case.
I hope we both cycle through to calmer seas :) Good luck on the exams!

I just picked up again alongside my lifting routine. It sucks, best of luck.
