I don't think it's strange, we all enjoy things differently. I'm almost the opposite where I can remember a line from a song but not be able to recall the melody.

If you commute by train or bus, that's also a great time to read! I started doing that, and now I almost wish my commute was longer.

    Interesting!

When I say that lyrics are important to me, I don't necessarily mean the "story" told by the song (though it can mean that too). Sometimes it's just the use of language itself that speaks to me, regardless of theme.

In the same way, badly written lyrics can make a song a lot harder for me to enjoy, especially if it comes across as "corny".

Ok, that makes sense! I don't listen to electronic much myself, but I think I see what you mean. Sometimes vocals can behave more as just one instrument/sound among many, which is interesting.

How important are lyrics to you?

For me, the words are probably as big a part of my experience of a song as the music itself. It's unlikely that I'll come back to a song if the lyrics don't speak to me. On the other hand, I know other people who claim not to care about the lyrics at all.

So, I was curious. If you are a person who cares a lot about the lyrics of a song, do you also read poetry? How do you feel about purely instrumental music?

Personally, I can appreciate instrumental music, but it's not something I tend to seek out. I enjoy poetry a lot (probably as much as music), both reading it and listening to it.

I'm interested to see if there's a pattern to this. :)

It's loosely sorted by themes but mostly in a way that looks nice, to be honest.

Only about half way through, but I'm really enjoying it. The language is very concise and to the point which I like, and the story telling in itself is very engaging too. She doesn't give too much away at once, revealing both the plot (if there really is a plot, I'm not quite sure yet) and the characters bit by bit.

It can be very blunt at times in describing gruesome things, but it always feels justified.

A very fitting post on the national day of Sweden! Haha.

Definitely a good idea to eat it with bread and onions. I've seen some videos of people trying it for the first time, and just putting a whole fillet into their mouth, with nothing to go with it. Which seems absolutely awful.

The traditional way of doing it is on a piece of flatbread, with potatoes, sourcream and onions. So you were pretty close! I still wouldn't call it tasty, but it's certainly better that way than on it's own, lol.

One of my bosses really loves it, and insists on having it at this work party once a year. They open the tin right there in the office! Would not recommend. Outdoors is the way to go!

Not my favourite album of his, but I really loved All Mine. The chorus is so good, I could listen to it a million times. None of the other tracks really stick out to me though.

The End of Eddy By Édouard Louis

A really beautiful and painful autobiography about growing up gay in a small, poor town in the north of France. It's very blunt both in terms of language and the way it deals with topics such as class, gender and sexuality.

His next book, History of Violence, is very good too.
